All acrylic sheets cut off some of the UVB region which is very important for that extra tan. That is why all serious Booths are made without the acrylic sheets. Having a Booth with acrylic sheets instead of strong steel grids is like; installing brand new lamps with a loss of 200 hours to begin with in terms of performance.

Chip:First of all, several enlightened states in the USA are preparing regulations that will make metal grids non-compliant. I would guess that Canada will also adopt similar regulations sooner or later. Allowing the client to be able to reach their fingers into the lamp area has the potential for burning and/or electrocution.Next, if you will take a hand-held meter (the UVB meter is best for this reading) and read the output of your lamps before you put on the acrylic and again after you put it in place, you will find a minimal loss in the transmission of the UVR (less than 5%). If there is a loss of more than 5%, you either have (1) acrylics that need to be cleaned, or, (2) acrylics that need to be replaced.Glass, on the other hand, filters out the UVB wavelengths (280 - 320 nm) and most of the UVA2 (320 - 340 nm) wavelengths which is why you can tan from the sunlight that passes through a window but not sunburn.Get rid of your metal grids (replace them with acrylic shields) if you are concerned about your clients safety.Don
