Rep Power: 0 | Hi,I'm looking at buying a tanning salon. I've never been involved or even been to a tanning bed. I just heard that it is very profitable. The company i'm looking at is well established in the area with a good customer base. The problem is that there are 27 other tanning places within a 20 mile radius from this business.None of these other ones come close to size or quality (from asking around). I was wondering how the overall industry is doing. Is it trending up or down? Are business' suffering? Is it easy to get hurt financially in this type of business?Thank You. |

Rep Power: 0 | Although I have been in the tanning industry for 3 years Don Smith or Michael Chunn could probably be better at answering this question. If you take a look under "Open Forum" the topic "I want to own a salon, am I dreaming" Michael has posted some good advice. If you can't find the answers you are looking for there, email me directly and I will help you or refer to someone that can.------------------Tracie WilliamsSandollar Corporation |

Rep Power: 24 | I have been in this business for over 7 years and have seen a lot of tanning salons come & go, change ownership and try like heck to re-gain a good name. Many people look at tanning salons during our peak season and think it is all money. Well, what they sometimes fail to realize is that we make almost all of our money in that 6 months a year. The rest of the year is unfortunately not so profitable. Money made in those 6 months also has to pay the rent, untilites, payroll, ect during the rest of the year.I am not saying this to try and talk you out of buying a salon. What I am trying to do is maybe open your eyes a bit to the other months of the year. Ask to see financial records to see how the business really does. Look at tax returns, ask other people including employees if you can.Be Prepared!Mike------------------Take A Trip To The Coast...Palm Coast Tann mike@palmcoasttann.com |
