Rep Power: 24 | Jeff,I have tons of questions but most often don't get much response. You can find them posted all over, usually I was the one who posted and got perhaps one or two actual responses. The only post I had that got more than that was called "Chipp Negativity"... which I never expected to get the response it did. Anyway, I've been asking.Laurie |

Rep Power: 24 | Jeff, I'll copy and paste the couple that I posted elsewhere into this one and see if you can't cover a few of these things for me. When I do POST a question... I am usually very sincere about it and really would like some serious help.Laurie |

Rep Power: 24 | Topic: Bed/Booth Warranty, Repair & Service posted 04-25-2001 03:46 PM Okay, so let's say I either buy or lease beds and/or booths. I've done my research and madethe right decision and found the right ones for my needs. Now what? What am I looking for in the way of Warranty, Repair and Service from the individual that I obtained my bed/booth? What are the most important things to ask before buying or leasing? How long should I expect service once I buy or lease? What are things to watch out for? This is hypothetical and I haven't actually made my investment yet. I'm concerned aboutinvesting in something that will cause me headaches and "down" time. Laurie---I did get a response or two from this... thanks who did... but I was looking for some well worn all around advice from more than just one or two sources. |

Rep Power: 24 | Topic: Lotions Smell posted 04-16-2001 11:53 AM I have always found that anything with an added smell to it will dry out my skin faster than without. I have been very hesitant to use any product that contained an added scent and haven't tried them. Am I being overly cautious? I buy from my salon owner and he has a wide array of product lines to choose from. I stick with products that have a naturally produced smell and in all honesty don't purchase my lotions for their scent but for their tanning enhancing ability. Please tell me if I'm nuts?Laurie---In this post I was criticized for using the word "smell" and not the word "scent". One person responded with a link and another agreed with me... that was it! |

Rep Power: 24 | Topic: How Many Beds to start? posted 04-12-2001 12:43 PM Hi All,My partner and I will be opening up a new salon soon. I live in a densly populated area of New Jersey with very few salons and have selected an area where growth is booming, and the call for tanning is very great, but not currently being met! I am considering starting with 2 standard beds, 2 medium strength beds, one VHR and onestand-up. This is still in the planning stages. My decisions will be based on square footage (obviously) and cost for leasing beds. I'd prefer to lease them to start. Am I headed in the right direction as far as number and type of beds? How about leasing, is this a good decision as well? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Laurie---I received one response this posting telling it sounded pretty good.Since then my partner and I decided to go with two entry level beds at 26 bulbs w/a facial tanner, two beds at 32 bulbs w/2 facial tanners, one bed at 40 bulbs w/3 facial tanners, one standup (to be determined) and one high pressure bed (to be determined). It would still be nice to get some feed back on this plan. |

Rep Power: 0 | laurie, from speaking with jeff myself, let me tell you he gives great advice. i myself was going to start out with 21 units, well let me tell you i have narrowed it down tremendously. i say this because i want to see if the beds will first be in demand and that i have no empty beds leftover. i can always add beds but is it kinda difficult to take away. also i figure the more the beds that get filled up the more i might order. tanamerica has been so good to me, thankgod they have patience. also it is probably better to lease. i say this because you will always have the option to upgrade. that is what people want today-modern tanning beds. i am buying only because i ordered beds that are a 2003 edition, so they will last for at least another few years.i had them custom made. as far as what to expect from leasing you might want to talk to someone a little more experienced than me and who is now or previously leasing/leased equipment. hope this helps. renee |

Rep Power: 24 | Laurie i will try and go one by one on your questions. First on the service and warranty question i believe a warranty is only as good as the company itself. If something breaks but it takes you 2 weeks to get a call back in the busy season it is no good. My first store started with 4 used Sun Industry beds. I finally got rid of my last 2 this year they were 12 years old and didn't break down at all. The basic beds are essentialy lamps, ballists and electical not really much to break down. For high presure Ultrabronz has 24 hour technical support although thier service on the sale is terrible so i hope my bed never breaks. I would recomend looking for a good electician with some knowlege of tanning they should be able to fix any problems for an hourly fee. Also because of your location you may look at P.C Marketing/Montego Bay they are in New Jersey somewhere and because they are close may be of more assistance in case of a problem. |

Rep Power: 24 | Next question about lotions. The one thing I have learned is what I may like is not allways what my customers will buy. For your salon I would recomend a variety of Products with different strengths and smells "sorry I said smell too " I have also been very happy with my private label program it offers you something to sell no one else has and if scent is important you can choose your own and even change on new batches depending on the company you work with. |
