Tanning Faq Sticky?

Hi, I'm a complete noob here. My goal is to learn about tanning lotion. Here are a list of questions I am looking to have answered, because I didn't find any tan faq which covers them. Please answer them if you are inclined. Thank you!

1) Is actual tanning necessary? What are the chemical differences as far as reactions in the skin, between the sun, and various tanners?

2) What is the order of what is necessary, in general, to create golden looking skin. Might I compare it to waxing a car? First the wash, and then the clay deep clean, and then the polish, where you remove the scratches (spider veins?), and then after complete smoothness is attained (perhaps working out too, which is kind of like a gradual repaint I suppsoe), then the dye in this case, and then the wax that protects it.

Are there different products for each step, and what are the steps?
Starting from each different starting point, whether it be paleness, spider veins, etc..

Is it different for ethnicity, or, whether someone has been able to tan well in their childhood?

3) What are the best products, without regard to money, for each step, or what ingredients, are best, so that I can compare?

4) What are the moderately reasonabe priced ones for each step?

5) How do you avoid getting those weird looking blotches, or weird colors? Are those brand related, or technique in applying related?
Please include a link for application faq, or I can search for one.

6) Health related! Surely, one's that are unhealthy must be listed! Or what factors are arguably possibly unhealthy.

How many applications a week is possibly unhealthy.

7) Myth buster. If certain products are used, do tanning beds truly increase wrinkles, and possible skin cancer? How do you prevent this, do you have researched studies on hand with this information?

8) Where are the deals, ebay, or local sponsors, that have these products?

9) Do other factors like age, gender, etc... change anything?

10) What about the face, do you ever put tan lotion on the face, and then excpect to keep a tan without ever having actually tanned in the sun or bed? Why does the face always seem to lose its tan so fast? Very scared about wrinkles!

Anyway, much love and thanks! Would love to understand this better.

Ty ty ty ty ty :)
