Rep Power: 0 | Millenium's Captain Jack and New Moon...??? Has anyone tried Millenium's Captain Jack and New Moon? If so how did you like either or both of them...??? I am thinking of adding a few new Millenium products to my shelf and Captain Jack's ingredients read as if it is a good lotion with 4 x's accelerators and 4 x's bronzers and sales with the younger clients who loved the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and there is a part 4 Pirates of the Caribbean movie coming out next year, I'll bet that " might" be the reason for them to pick this lotion apart from a Designer Skin lotion named " Queen ". I'm also thinking of adding Millenium's " New Moon ". It's ingredients also read as if it is a good lotion with accelerators and bronzers BUT I am also thinking again with the " younger clients " might associate this tanning lotion with the popularity of those "Twilight " vampire movies and part 2 of the Twilight movie is called " New Moon " and is coming out on DVD this weekend , so this might sell because the movie is VERY popular with the younger clients. Basing my sales of lotions DOES have to do a lot with the pop culture and the names of the lotions do affect the sales of certain lotions. I might be making sense or I might just be making a fool out of myself...??? I will just do about anything I can to get my clients to purchase lotions. They just DON'T want to buy lotions, and I know you all have heard this...they say " the tanning beds are expensive enough"! After I hear that then I put my 2 cents in and tell them all about how moisturized skin is important and that dry skin DEFLECTS 40% of the UV rays from the beds and also that they will get darker, faster by using a lotion, and that buying a lotion is an investment, an investment into their tan and an investment for their skin, etc... and sometimes it works and sometimes I am lucky to get them to buy a sample, but when a new client comes in and I get them to become a member I give them a 20% discount on a lotion and that helps, but get this... a few clients had the nerve to ask me to just take 20% OFF the price of their membership instead of them using it to buy a lotion !!! I would love to get a picture of that old woman, Magda , from the movie " There's Something About Mary ". A picture of Mary's older next door neighbor, Magda who tans all the time and the time when Matt Dillon was spying on Mary using binoculars and he was looking in the wrong window and there was that " image" of Magda, all naked with her " mammarys" down to her waist. I would LOVE to have a picture of that and THEN show the clients who don't want to buy a lotion, show them that picture and tell them that is what they will look like if they don't use a lotion !!! LOL ANYWAY, Any and ALL replies about Captain Jack and New Moon tanning lotions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading and have a great week !!! Ricky

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Millenium's Captain Jack and New Moon...??? We have a few bottles of twilight and other lotions named like popular movies and they just rot on our shelves. The packaging is what seems to attract our customers. The movie title bottles are ugly I guess. They like sparkly, shiny, interesting bottles. We sell a lot of the HD series because it's glittery packaging haha. We try and get them to buy lotions because they are GOOD lotions but they like the WOW factor. Your salon might be different but those lotions would tank here. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Millenium's Captain Jack and New Moon...??? Capt Jack is put out by Rio Tanning not Millennium, and I have it on my shelf and I have used it. It has some good ingredients in it, but I would recommend it to beginners. I have never tried New Moon, I don't think that is a Millennium product either. However, I do stock Millennium's Black Storm 60X, Paint it Black 50X and Black Night.. Paint it Black is the best of the 3 hands down. It does deliver good results. They used to have a Beyond Black that was a tingle lotion that was great.. It was replaced with the Black Night thermal (which is not tingle) and it is an ok lotion but nothing like Beyond Black. I too agree that their sales tactics are aggrevating. When they call and you still have plenty on the shelf just tell them you can't move their crap and you need to talk about the return guarentee if products don't sale. They be happy to get off the phone with you then. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Millenium's Captain Jack and New Moon...??? I may be off on this but I believe Millinium Tanning owns Rio Tanning (or vice versa) and it is my understanding (just had this conversation today actually with my sales rep with Millinium Products) that Beyond Black has just recently been discontinued being replaced by their new lotion called Insanely Black. I was told that the lotion is the same as the Beyond Black but due to a name issue with the Beyond Black, that they had to rename the product. Black Night was never a replacement for the Beyond Black that I know of however, it is still a very good product. All of the "Black" products sell well in my salon. Also Ricky, I have found that the clients are more apt to buy a bottle of lotion if I give them a few samples to try. I try to let them try at least 2 lotions, giving them just a small sample size (like half a 1 oz cup) of one for 3 days and they generally are hooked. Most of the time they have just never been trained on tanning techniques and once you show them (as someone else put it on here....talk is cheap!) by allowing them to test your products, they are more willing to purchase a bottle. By offering them a few free samples, you not only win their trust and friendship but also you show them that you are a firm believer in not only what you preach but what you sell. I enjoy reading your post because you seem to know a lot about the tanning industry and bring up a lot of good points. I try to educate my tanners before I put them in a bed and as much as possible, I try to keep an eye on their progress and when I just do not see results as they should be having, I try to get to the bottom of the issue. They respect me for this and several have commented on how nice it is to actually have someone informing them of all aspects of tanning and how it in itself works and someone that actually cares enough past just collecting their money. Keep posting your great advice and comments on here because they have certainly helped me as someone that has only recently come into this business! |
