Rep Power: 0 | Looking for a new lotion...help? So i've been searching everywhere lately for lotions. I've done research upon research and read tons of reviews. As far as what to look for in lotions im totally clueless as to what dha and tyrosine or whatever it is even does. I've been tanning for a little over 4 years now usually stopping for the summer months and have used quite a few lotions. Nothing special though. I've been using Liquidox by californiatan for a while now. I just havent noticed any real difference. I also tried a sample of spellbound by DS recently and liked it, but I dont necessarily love it. I've been tanning about every other day or less for the past couple months now. I'm not sure what would be best to get a nice dark brown tan without it being outrageously priced. Most DS lotions at my salon are 60-90 dollars. Which is a bit much for me. I have been alternating between 20 minute beds and 12 minute turbo beds lately and still havent seen a change. I'm looking into the OC lotions, particularly womanizer and ten. This is sort of what my tan looks like atm. http://fashionrules.com/wp-content/u.../10/00008f.jpg |

Re: Looking for a new lotion...help? 1. Do you tan well outdoors? You have been tanning a lot so I am wondering what your skin type is that you have no change...going mostly every other day? 2. Any pro is going to tell you it is tough to give you a lotion recommendation over the internet as we can't see your skin type. 3. How often does the tanning salon relamp those beds? Reputable salons will tell you the hours on the lamps. I invite customers to challenge us to pull it up on our software at any given time. 4. Has to be said but...Are you wanting to be darker than your skin can realistically achieve? 5. Flip lotions over and look for the first ingredient to be something hydrating like Aloe Vera...if water and alcohol are in the top 3 avoid it. 6. If you have to go lower on a tanning product then use advice of #5...HOWEVER...DO not skimp on the after tan moisturizer ...DON'T use lotions that contain skin bleachers like Mineral/baby oil. Victoria's Secret and Bath and Body works have mineral oils. That is a big bleaching culprit and could be your issue. Bottom line is use your salon pro's that you see everyday. I appreciate that you at least do the research...good for you! | |

Helps to produce melanin- melanin is responsible for skin color. DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) Is the ingredient used in lotions and spray tan products to stain the skin. You will get an additional amount of color because of the DHA- color that does not come from the bed. DHA can be drying to the skin, so follow CrystalSS #6 advice. I also agree with her #4- have realistic expectations, your skin may not have the ability to get any darker. If you are on medications, this could interfere with your tanning also.

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Looking for a new lotion...help? Thank you so much for your help. I am a bit concerned about my tanning salon as far as if its really helping me achieve what im capable of. I was using just the 20 minute beds for a while and upgraded to the all beds membership. I was using just the turbos and it seemed my color was almost fading. I decided to use the 20 minute bed yesterday and I got burnt. Usually I burn and it turns to a tan by the next day so today my color is really nice. I've noticed in the turbo beds they are using the same bulbs as they use in the 20 minute bed and only alternate with a couple of stronger bulbs, but those are dimmed as if they are old or something? As far as my skintype I did a quiz on Iamtan .com and it said I was a 3A skintype. I usually tan very well in the sun. I definitely believe I am just in need of a better lotion. Sometimes I tan even better without lotion(bad I know). Today I am going to get the Hempz moisterizer for after tanning. I've discovered almost all of my lotions have mineral oil in them...ugh. Thanks again for your help! It's greatly appreciated. I don't feel I can ask at my salon because its just a bunch of high school girls texting on their phones. So thank you! |
