Rep Power: 0 | Why don't all DS products have tyrosine? Since tyrosine seems to be the magic ingredient for lotions these days, why don't all reputable products have it? It looks as though all of the DC lotions have it, but a few of the DS ones don't (distributors and salespeople, feel free to jump in here). What are the other active ingredients in a tanning accelerator? |

I think that tyrosine has had it's up and downs with the FDA and is actually some what of a controversial ingredient. When I say controversial I don't mean safety but more in the effectiveness department. Who in their right mind wants to spend a lot of money on adding an ingredient that has not really been proven to have any affect on the actual tanning process? I think I would rather go with ingredients that have proven results. I am pretty sure, feel free to correct me, that tyrosine actually was taken out of a lot of products, and reccently is making a come back because of a change in FDA regulations. If I were a manufacturer, I may throw it in a few products just to keep the masses happy but not put it in all my products until it really has proved itself as an effective ingredient. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Why don't all DS products have tyrosine? According to " Google" ... Most varieties of tanning accelerators have psoralen, which is taken from citrus oils and other plant substances. Psoralen is an amino acid that stimulates pigment cells in the skin to create more melanin. Tyrosine is also an amino acid that the body produces naturally and it stimulates pigment cells to create more melanin. To MY knowledge the most popular tanning accelerators are Tyrosine, L-Tyrosine, Acetyl Tyrosine, or any other "form" of Tyrosine. Also Unipertan , which is a blend of Tyrosine, Vitamin B-2 and Collagen, and Carrot Oil. ALSO using a lotion with " Tingle" helps accelerate the tanning process. These are all considered tanning accelerators. There are also " Tan-Tabs" which are tanning tablets that have between 500 and 1000 milligrams of Tyrosine. Some tan tabs also might have " copper, zinc, or a form of vitamin B " along with Tyrosine and that's ok, as long as the main ingredient is Tyrosine. I take tanning tablets everyday when I go tanning and I DO detect that I tan faster when I take them. I take 1000 mgs of tanning tablets each time I take them. Be careful though, there are some tanning tablets out there that have an ingredient called " Canthaxanthin " and THAT WILL TURN A PERSON ORANGE because it is a dye and " tans" from within the body and out to the skin. Also, studies have shown that taking Tyrosine in tanning tablets can have effects similar to anti-depressants, which is a good thing. I know while I am taking tanning tablets that I am not as " crabby" as I can be, and I can be VERY " crabby " especially during the winter months when I don't take Tyrosine tablets because I give my skin a break from tanning every now and then. If you have a chance, Google TYROSINE. It is a very intersting amino acid !!! I hope this was of some help. Good luck and have a great day !!! Ricky
