Australian Gold lotions HELP I live in korea. and I am going to hit a new tanning place tomorrow. I called to check what lotions they have, and they mostly have Australian Gold. Apparantly koreans love australian gold. but they are ridiculously overpriced here ugh. the cheapest go for like $75. lol. anyways, just incase they dont have Black or bombshell, which are the only ones i have tried.. and i doubt they have the more uncommon ones.. can people please recommend lotions from australian gold? thanks. | |

Re: Australian Gold lotions HELP Salon professionals recommend lotions based on a couple of things. -First and most important is your skin type...which also determines your tanning exposure schedule. Without standing in front of you that is hard to determine. -Secondly, what do you have a like or dislike based on your experience? Do you like added bronzers, Tingles etc. -Lastly, your budget. After discussing these things with your salon professional they are able to offer you a product that will satisfy these areas. Also, I recommend after being presented your choices to try the sample packs first. Then you have done your due diligence. One lotion might look great but after you use it you may not like the smell, results or feel. When you hit the jackpot buy the full bottle. If it is true that they only have lotions $75.00 and above and you just cannot afford that then drop into another tanning salon and see if you can find another alternative salon product. Just don't purchase off the internet because you probably get a bottle of dollar store lotion inside that bottle of Black AND don't buy the discount store products as they typically are 3/4th alcohol and water. Rep Power: 0 | Re: Australian Gold lotions HELP I e-mailed Australian Gold about why they don't use TYROSINE ( the #1 tannig accelerating ingredient in indoor tanning lotions ) and this was their reply back to me... I apologize, it is a bit lengthy, but very informative... Rick, Thank you for your email and your questions regarding the ingredients in our lotions. You are correct, Australian Gold, Swedish Beauty, and California Tan are owned by the same company, which is called New Sunshine Lotions. Designer Skin is also part of the New Sunshine family of lotions. We create, manufacture, and distribute these 4 flagship brands as well as Matahari, Emerald Bay, Caribbean Gold, Boutique, Colorology, and Splash. Australian Gold was created in 1984 and it is founded on the philosophy that well-moisturized, vitamin-rich skin tans faster, tans darker, and stays tan longer. Because of these beliefs and the success of our products, all of the Australian Gold lotions are rich with moisturizers and nature based skin care ingredients, resulting in golden tans and nourished, healthy-looking skin. AG Accelerator has been the #1 indoor tanning lotion for over 20 years. We call it Accelerator because it does accelerate the tanning process, using our own Biosine Complex, as well as all of the vitamins you mentioned below that are essential for the tanning process—A, C, and E. The Biosine Complex is a 3 part system—Panthenol, Olive Oil, and Tea Tree Oil. There have been many advances in our research over the last few years on ingredients that aid in the tanning process, and we do use them in our lotions. We use BioBronze Technology is most of our high end lotions, whether they are intensifiers or bronzing lotions. We also have a system of Melanin Enhancing ingredients, which sounds like what you are looking for, ingredients that act like Tyrosine does, helping to acccelerate the tanning process. We also use DermaDark, which is a blend of ingredients that also aids in the tanning process. These are proprietary systems and we do not disclose the ingredients in these blends. Another example is MAP- melanin activating peptides. Basically, a product labeled as an Intensifier is any lotion that does not contain a bronzer. These absolutely have ingredients to help accelerate and intensify the tanning process. Dry skin does not tan as quickly as moisturized skin, and intensifiers are typically moisture-rich lotions that contain ingredients that prepare the skin for UV exposure and aid in the tanning process. Bronzers are for people that want color right away. We don’t hide behind our lotions that contain a lot of bronzers. We create these lotions because the market demands it. Consumers want fast results. They want a lot of bronzers to get that instant gratification. And they work! I typically tan with an Intensifier, I use AG Hot. However, if I want darker looking results, I tan with Designer Skin Monarchy. Or I use a sunless spray-tan booth. I know that the DHA will fade, but I also know that I don’t have to tan as often to have good color. Thank you again for posing these questions. In our research, and as the leaders of our industry, we have developed superior products in all of our brands. We’ve also learned that the majority of tanners don’t want to know about ingredients, they want to know about results, and the bottles just don’t have room to highlight all of the features of the lotion. Trust me, we wish everyone was like you and wanted the specifics on how things work. We strive to educate every salon owner and employee about how our lotions work, the technology behind them, how the ingredients work, and we provide training tools and books with all of this information to salons, but apparently quite a few salon owners do not take the time to educate themselves with the information we provide them about our lotions because we get many e-mails asking questions about our products. I found that your inquiries were based upon your knowledge about our lotions, especially why we do not use Tyrosine or Tyrosine derivatives in our lotions. As I have stated we firmly believe that well moisturized skin is essential for the tanning process. The body produces Tyrosine and that helps " activate" the melanin when the body is exposed to UV light and once again, well moisturized skin will aid in the tanning process. I do hope you’ll keep a few Australian Gold lotions to see what your customers think. Vogue is an amazing product, but if you do want to stay away from bronzers, I would recommend Vintage Gold. It does not contain DHA, but it does have the Derma Dark technology that I mentioned above. Another personal favorite is Idol. Happy Tanning! Sincerely, Melanie L. Vaughn Sales Support Manager Australian Gold, Swedish Beauty, California Tan, Designer Skin I hope that was of some help for you or anyone who has questions about Australian Gold's products. A few of my favorites were AG's Crystal X, Infamous and Sinfully Black, and these ALL have multiple bronzers and they did give me good color after a few sessions. They are high end so you might want to stick with something in the middle, like " Naturally Dark" and " Velocity" which are not bronzers, they are "intensifiers", but it also depends on where you live and if your clients actually BUY bottles of lotions. Good luck !!! Have a great day !!! Ricky
