Exclamation One more ? ;)

My face is lighter than my body, typical problem it seems like. Everytime I tan my face burns and dosen't brown. I use facial lotions and I dont go the full time in the bed. My body dosent burn, just my face. I have been tanning on and off for about 4 years now (maybe more) but recently I just started back up in Jan 09 from a 4 month break of no tannin what so ever. What can I do about this? It's making me kinda sad... I'll be going on vacation this summer, which means swimming, water and no makeup to fix my uneven tan... ;(

Re: One more ? ;)

Stop tanning your face the full session. Buy a face cover (we sell Tanfacia) and limit how much you actually tan your face to stop the burning until you build up to the rest of your body.

Re: One more ? ;)

Thanks you two! I usually use a stand-up which does not have facial lamps... Would it be better to use a bed with facial lamps? Do the facial lmaps have less UVB rays?

Re: One more ? ;)

You are starting from pale. It takes AT LEAST a month for your face to hold a tan.

I will also had that most face washes/exfoliators (especially ones for treating acne) will decrease the faces ability to tan and/or cause it to burn. I tell my customers to only tan their face half the session and it seems to be working better for them.

That makes a lot of sense because I use proactiv. Now that you say that I remember one of the exfoliators i was using a while back actually had a warning on the bottle saying exposure to sun/ tanning beds will increse your chances of burning... Yeah, it's a paticular ingredient in the face wash. Would it be better if I only used the proactiv at night and used a regular face wash in the morning? but I do that a lot of the time anyway. Hmmm... Yeah, maybe I shouldn't go as long on my face. Thanks everyone.

Re: One more ? ;)

No proactive when tanning. At least not daily. Once a week is fine if you aren't tanning the next day.

Re: One more ? ;)

1. Cover your face during part of the tanning or
2. Turn off the facials during part of the tanning if your bed has that
3. There are facial lotions that have SPF in them that you can get from your salon. I used these when building up a tan

Re: One more ? ;)

It's the proactive. It sucks all the moisture out of your face and it won't tan if it's not moist. It'll also bleach the skin a bit.

both are "anti tan".
