New Tanner... SexU Hemp?

I went tanning for my frist time last year. They gave me a sample of this lotion that smelt good, and worked okay for my first time. I don't know what it was though. That's the only time I went.. because I was 15 and didn't have money

I've gone a few time this year. I started a couple weeks ago and have gone 3 times. I didn't use lotion any of those time. The first time I got the slightest tan ever, barely noticable. The seconed time I got a little red, but it faded to a little more noticeable tan... but just a tiny bit, I didn't look tan, but I didn't look pale anymore. I have very fair skin. I went yesterday, and it was my first time going for 15 minutes. I burned... My belly and thighs are still red, and the redness in my face faded mostly, leaving me with a little tan.

Someone told me not to use tanning lotion? But I want to.. I wish I knew what I used before. So I went to Sally's and saw SexyU. I didn't like the smell of the mocha ones.. so I got hemp. I haven't used it yet, i'm waiting till the burn on my stomach goes away. I didn't want to get the ones that said "deep dark tan" because I don't want to get wicked wicked tan. Just a decent tan so i'm not pale.

I know I can tan.. I went to Ozzfest 2004 and got a really good tan from being out in the sun all day... although it was first sunburn that turned into a dark tan. But I get red after I go tanning... will that always happen? Or does it just happen for a while until I get used to tanning often?

I don't know which lotions I should be using though. Any suggestions? Is the hemp one any good?

Thanks

I would use Halo by Designer Skin. It has an SPF of 4 in it to help keep you from burning.

Sexu smells like cooked yogurt. Stinks up the place. We have banned it in our salon for that reason.

Halo is a good quality lotion that is offered in some Salons. Also the SPF 4 is targeted towards the UVB rays (reddening rays).

Re: New Tanner... SexU Hemp?

I actually sold SuxyU in my salon and still have a few bottles left under the counter. The Hemp smells good but it really dried out my customers skin. It also left a cloudy film on my acrylics so I took it off my shelves. It has a high amount of alcolhol. If you read the first 5 ingredients are: Propylene Glycol, Isopropyl, Stearic Acid Glyertl Stearate and so on. It does have CoQ10 and hemp seed oil for rehydration but my customers weren't impressed with it.

Buy a few sample lotions until you figure out what YOU like best. Everyone is different. When you find the right one, then get a bottle of it. Maybe try some of the Australian Gold products. They are very popular in my salon with the younger girls and most are very affordable.

GOOD LUCK!

Re: New Tanner... SexU Hemp?

Were these tans 3 times in a row? Try to go every other day and slowly increase your minutes as you go if you aren't burning. If you have light skin to start out with, you aren't going to get instant results. You have to be consistant. Lotion does help you tan and keeps you moisturized. Talk to the person behind the desk where you tan and share with them what you've experienced and what you'd like to achieve. Hopefully the can help you find a lotion that's right for you. If they aren't able to help you and you are still getting burnt with the advice we are all giving you, maybe try tanning elsewhere? JMO

And remember - support your salon. Even the cheapest lotions in most salons is a better grade than that trash sold in Salley's,etc. Don't take your bacon and eggs to a restaurant and ask to have them cooked there.

Definately. Your salon will also be able to educate on tanning and provide you with knowledgable information on lotions that will work for your skin type.

It wasn't everyday. The first two times took place within two weeks, and the seconed time was a couple days later. I went in for 7, 11, then 14 minutes. I wish the sample ones weren't 4 dollars for one time. I'll try that though, thanks.

Re: New Tanner... SexU Hemp?

It sounds like you are a skin type 11 , based on that you should have said.

Your exposure time was way too much too soon. It takes up to 48 hours for your skin to react the the ultra violet light. You should have stayed at about 5 minutes for the first few sessions , tanning NO more than everyother day, then gradually increase session times at about 2 minutes.

We sell Halo to all our fair skin tanners & they use it until a base tan is acheived, this is not a broad spectrum SPF , it maximizes the uva rayes (browning) and reduces the uvb rays you recieve (burning) .
