Rep Power: 24 | If you're new, go for a cooling lotion before a tingle. I would suggest DS Believe. It's a cooler and a bronzer with a great smell. If you choose to try a tingle, start with a mild one and work your way up. I would suggest starting with SB Pink Diamond, Tingle Factor 2. Ask your tanning salon if they have a tingle killer. We give newbie tingle tryers out bottle to take into the room in case it's too much for them to handle. Good Luck. |

Rep Power: 0 | Well,Im not a total newbie as ive been tanning lightly last summer and have been a little more hardcore about it this summer.Im just confused about the purpose of a tingleing lotion and what it does as well as a cooling lotion and what its purpose is. Ive been using Supre Impact and feel its O.K. and thier hempz moisturizer which is great although i have read in the archives that Supre is sort of frowned upon.basiccly i was wondering what the actual purpose of tingle is and are there better lotion option there than the Impact and Hepz. Thanks for your input folks. _________________ [ This Message was edited by: eros on 2005-08-11 09:46 ] |

Rep Power: 30 | Tingle - warming on the skin with slight redness, ability to see and feel color working immediately Bronzer - immediate extra bronzed color that lasts 1-2 days Coolant - a cooling sensation during and after the tanning session Hemp - natural moisturizer for the skin |

Rep Power: 20 | To go into a little more detail... You have three basic types of lotions. Tingles, bronzers, and accelerators. Accelerators are your lotions that are most like your moisturizers. There's no extra zing to them. This is what I recommend that all beginning tanners start with. Bronzers: There are 2 main types of bronzers. The first is a cosmetic only bronzer. It has a brown color that will make you look brown immediately, but will wash off in the shower. The second is a DHA bronzer. This is the one that uses DHA (the sunless tanner ingredient) to give your tan a color kick. The chemical results will last anywhere from 2-7 days. Tingles are lotions that are designed to basically irritate the skin, thus causing blood to rush to the surface. Since tanning is actually a chemical reaction between melanin, UV, and oxygen, and oxygen is distributed throughout the body by blood, this is believed to help the tanning process. As for the other things you'll hear about with lotions: Cooling: has menthol to cause a cold feeling. These are great when you're tanning in a hot bed. Shimmer: has glitter or mica to cause a shimmering effect Hemp: has hemp oil, which, as Tanzenite already said, is a natural moisturizer . But, if you're getting a lotion with hemp, make sure that hemp oil is listed near the top of the ingredient list. It only has to be listed for the lotion to be called a hemp lotion, but it needs to be closer to the top to get the actual benefits from the oil (the farther down the list, the less is actually in the lotion). Now, keep in mind that you can have a combination of all of these. For example, Fiji's Fire Walker is a cooling/tingle/bronzer lotion. |

Rep Power: 0 | I might add that if you use a dha bronzer, you need to wait about 4 hours to shower in order to give it time for the color to "develop" on your skin. I don't generally feel much cooling in most coolants.JA Platinum Zero & CalTan's Ambrosia Dark Frost are about the only two I can say are strong.Well, one more.Caribbean Gold's Cold Hearted. Not a high end line but I was impressed with the cooling. But everyone's different which is why it's great there are different lotions. |

Tingles are not for everyday use. I only recommend using them once a week. (if you tan 3times a week) If you tan every other day use it on each third time. |
