Rep Power: 0 | My husband and I just started tanning. He has never tanned and I haven't tanned in about 3 years. Anyway, we are trying to get a nice tan for a trip in June. He are using low pressure beds. I've been going for 8-10 mins each time and he has been going for 5 min each time. He is not red, but hasn't really changed color yet. I am pink. Do you think that either of us should increase/decrease our time? I really don't know how long it takes to build up or anything, so that is why I am here. Also, we have DS, Dolce. Do you think that is an alright lotion? I also have a Fiji Sun Tea bronzer, but have not used it yet. What do you suggest as far as when to start the bronzer? Can I do it now or should I wait until I am darker? If there is something better or will help us build our base tan more quickly, suggestions are welcome! Also, what about a moisturizer ? Does it matter if it's just regular ol' lotion from the store or is there a brand specific for tanners? Thanks so much! |

Rep Power: 20 | i would stick to accelerators at the moment, then move to something with a bronzer or tingle after the base tan is developed. also if your husband hasnt seen any color changes he probably needs to go up some in time. are the beds you lay in 20 min beds? if so let him try 10 min for a few times then move up 5 min each time after. if youre pink you can decrease your time a little then start back up after the pink is gone. its much better to start out slow and then work up. dolce is a good lotion, i myself prefer to use australian gold accelerator but thats just me, just dont use any tingle right now. bronzer will probably not do too well until you have established tan. i really like to use body drench its an oldie but goodie. |

Tanning is a process, not overnight miracle Amen! That's the number one mistake that salon workers/owners make...allowing people to increase their time in larger increments than they can handle. You should NEVER allow someone to increase their time in any increment larger than 2 minutes...and only after they have tanned at their current time for at least 3 sessions (in the same level bed). Skin damage fuels the negative press against the industry! Help reduce the risk of skin damage by encouraging people to tan smart! |
