Ok well im pretty obbssed with getting tan. I go about 4 times a week now in a 15 minute bed with full facial lamps all around. i use swedish beauty dangerously dark and rub it all over (Espeically my face). When i get out of the bed, i apply hempz.

but now my skin is getting dry! i use curel mosterizer all over my body since its cheap and comes in a big bottle before i go to bed. so i need some help cause 1) im not gettin that much darker (maybe its the lotion) 2) and my tan is flaking off

and i also apply self tanner on days that im not tanning i use (aucourtant) but i heard u can appply the selftanner right after tanning but i just thought there was a lot of stuff on my face alrady from the tanning lotion, hempz, and than now self tanner?

any suggestions

have you exfoliated lately? get some good scrub with the oatmeal or almond in it, not the beads. this will get that old dead skin off and also use your moisturizer. i would do this about once a week you will see an improvement.

There is a reason that's not doing anything. See that first ingredient? White Petrolium, mineral oil, etc? That DOES NOT MOISTURISE. It SEALS the skin. That's great if you are suffering from chapped hands in the middle of the winter. Not too good otherwise.

Bathe in after tan lotion like Hempz or something.

Yeah I agree engfant... I used to love St Ives Collagen Elastin lotion... It's wonderful stuff, but not for tanning... It has mineral oil in it.. As soon as I quit using it and using a good after tan moisturizer all the time I started getting tan faster and my skin is more moisturized than ever! I had no idea that the lotions were so different.. But the results are like night and day!

i feel since my skin is sensetive that if i exfoilate it will make it worse and make it more dry as they tend to be harsh. but i wil try, any suggestions on something that wont rip my skin off

Actually, that fear is unfounded. Even people with sensitive skin should exfoliate (myself included). If you don't feel comfortable using a scrub, try picking up a rough bath sponge. It will be more gentle, but will still remove dead skin cells. I personally use St. Ives apricot scrub for sensitive skin (it's made for faces, but I use it for body too....it's gentler than most face scrubs and tons better than body scrubs).

Also, how often are you tanning? You said 4 days a week, but are those days back to back? If so, you should adjust your schedule to allow a day inbetween for your skin to replenish it's moisture. And do pick up a really good moisturizer. I can't think of any right off hand that don't smell sweet or flowery, but I'll look into it.

And drink plenty of water!

Athens makes a good point about the water bit. CT Total Immersion isn't overly sweet smelling. And CT sells Total Submersion which is a body wash tan extender. Ask your salon is they carry Cal Tan or if you can special order it. You seem very attentive to doing what is good for your skin. These products would be worth trying as well.

Try using an after tan moisturizer like Forever After From Swedish Beauty. Body Kisses or endless from AG. There great moisturizers !!
If your having a hard time tanning your face try Sunsilk from AG or theres another one from Swedish Beauty to just cant think of the name right now.

Body Drench is awesome stuff--clean, easy smell with the original formula. I buy it by the gallon. I was prone to dry skin and that has stopped with the huge bottle of BD I lug around with me. I've been suggesting to clients that they use something with a dual bronzer....DS TAO or Ray of Light as their tanner and "sunless" product and toss out the banana boat and lancom "self tanner" crap. You might try hopping in a big blue box or some other "spray booth" for color and a shot of aloe.

DOLCE......this lotion is amazing...i have a lady with psoriasis that uses it... and her skin looks and feels so moisterized...please try it!
