Hello all. I am new to the tanning bed scene and am hoping someone out there can offer some advice on the various types of lotions. I guess I should say that it is not actually a tanning bed but the stand up cylinder type....Anyway, today was only my 5th. time going and I have noticed that my upper half (arms, chest, belly & back) have started tanning really well, however, my legs do not to appear to have changed at all. Some friends of mine told me to start using some accelerators and upon looking on the Internet, I have discovered that there are literally 100's to choose from. Thankfully, I have stumbled upon this forum and hopefully someone out there can offer me some help. What I'm wondering is....

1. What is "tingle" that I see advertised on a lot of the lotions?
2. Is a "tingle" lotion better than a non-tingle lotion?
3. What are some of the recommended accelerators?
4. Upon my third trip, I got the bright idea to stay in for 8 minutes and my stomach got burnt, while nothing else did...what would make one part of my body burn and not the other parts?
5. Is there different lotions for different stages of tanning? For example: One to use while getting a base tan, another for after the base tan, and yet another to maintain the tan?

Any help and advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

1. A lotion that increases the skins micro-circulation, therefore increasing the skin oxygen content, and promoting better tanning.

2. In most cases, yes. Not for beginners though.

3. Anything not made by Australian Gold, Swedish Beauty, etc.....

4. Who knows? Typically areas that have not seen the light of day are more sensitive to UV exposure.

5. Yes. See your local salon for the varied choices......

Thank you for the reply. Are there any recommended sites online to purchase accelerators? The ones sold at the salon seem extremely expensive.

The tanning bed place that I go to only offers their own line of tanning products and though, I don't mind spending a few extra dollars for a quality product, I would like to see what others are trying and what is working for them. I really want to find a good accelerator without a bronzer ~ I have found a website that offers many different varieties of lotions but I still have the dilemma of choosing. I think I may have one that I'm gonna try....it is called, "Freak" by Supre. Has anyone tried this? Any feedback? Thanks

If your salon is offering thier own label, it is probably better than what you can get on the internet for less money. By the time you pay shipping costs in addition to purchase price, you may be getting a worse deal than if you bought a quality lotion.
The other factor you should consider is that 1. The lotion may be old.
2. It may be used.
3. It might not be what it says it is.
4. There is no place to return it too.
5. They may not be legally licensed to sell it.
