Rep Power: 0 | Hey there everyone, Been reading the forums for a few weeks now and i've finally gotten to joining (im so lazy). Anyways, i've been tanning for about 2 months now and I find im not getting much color at all. I went to a place called "Beach Bum" Up in NJ where I go to school and they stuck me right in the HP Stand up Bed and I got hardly anything at all. I have Irish Skin, and Dark hair and a pretty fair complexion. I just started going to another place since im home on break and I used a bed that has both UVA and UVB and I got a lil bit of color, but im just wondering if the lotion I am using is taking away some results. I've been using an Australian Gold lotion with Bronzer, and I just bought a Designer Skin "Believe" bottle of lotion off the Internet because I read all the great reviews DS Products were getting of this site. The tanning salon i've been going to hardly carries any lotions and products in stock and I was also wondering the important of using a tan extending moisturizer . I am also a guy and 22 years old. I still need to do my profile. Anyways, any tips from you experts would be greatly appreciated. |

Rep Power: 24 | How come you aren't starting off with an accelerator to build your base? it doesn't necessarily have to have a bronzer in it to build your base. Liquidox (step 1) by Cal Tan is good. and don't buy stuff off the internet...get it from your salon. |

Rep Power: 0 | Yeah I like buying the lotions from the salons because I like giving them money rather then saving a few bucks, but this Salon I go to when im home doesnt carry anything but samples, and my bottle of Australian Gold is running out (which I bought from the Salon by school). I will check out the Liquidox, but it seems that the advice I am reading on hear from you guys is much more helpful then what the girl at the salon is telling me. She told me the fact it had a bronzer was good and would help build up color quicker. I never knew about the Mineral Oil taking away from the tan either, and the girl at the Salon never mentioned I should be looking into Tan Extending Moisturizers. |

Rep Power: 28 | I would use something like DS Worship or even Halo for you since you have fair skin. Halo has a SPF of 4 in it so I would use it in conjunction with a higher UVB bed to start off your base. Then I would graduate to a higher pressure unit. I have the same type of skin and that worked the best for me. If you are in Olney MD you are about 30 miles from DC right? Give me a PM sometime if you are in the area I will comp you a tan and a packette of the Halo. Jeff |

The bronzer itself doesn't actually help get a permanent tan. It's the extracts in the bronzer that have the tan color. Natural bronzers last 1-2 days and bronzers w/ DHA last 4-7. But, I would recommend steering clear from the DHA until you build a base tan, as those bronzers are darker and streak if not applied properly. Since moisturizing is an important part of maintaining your tan, I would choose a lotion with very good skin conditioners & moisturizers. Halo would be a good one to go with since the risk of burning when you use this product is lessened. Try to follow up with a tan extending moisturizer afterwards. |
