Rep Power: 25 | Re: Hawaiian Tropic Tan2Max why would they wanna use it????? Benzyl alcohol is an organic compound with the formula C6H5CH2OH. The benzyl group is commonly abbreviated "Bn", thus BnOH, for benzyl alcohol. Benzyl alcohol is a colorless liquid with a mild pleasant aromatic odor. It is a natural constituent of a variety of essential oils including jasmine, hyacinth, and ylang-ylang.[1] Benzyl alcohol is also a useful solvent due to its polarity, low toxicity, and low vapor pressure. Benzyl alcohol is partially soluble in water (4 g/100 mL) and completely miscible in alcohols and ether. It is prepared by the hydrolysis of benzyl chloride using sodium hydroxide: C6H5CH2Cl + NaOH → C6H5CH2OH + NaCl It can also be prepared via a Grignard reaction by reacting phenylmagnesium bromide (C6H5MgBr) with formaldehyde, followed by acidification. Like most alcohols, it reacts with carboxylic acids to form esters. Contents [hide]
[edit] Applications Benzyl alcohol is used as a general solvent for inks, paints, lacquers, and epoxy resin coatings.[2] It is also a precursor to a variety of esters, used in the soap, perfume, and flavor industries, as well as for pharmaceuticals. It exhibits bacteriostatic and antipruritic properties. It is also used as a photographic developer. [edit] Illustrative organic synthetic uses In organic synthesis, benzyl esters are popular protecting groups because they can be removed by mild hydrogenolysis.[3] BnOH reacts with acrylonitrile to give N-benzylacrylamide. This is an example of a Ritter reaction:[4] C6H5CH2OH + NCCHCH2 → C6H5CH2N(H)C(O)CHCH2 [edit] Nanotechnological uses Benzyl alcohol has been used as a dielectric solvent for the dielectrophoretic reconfiguration of nanowires.[5] [edit] Health & safety Benzyl alcohol is used as a bacteriostatic preservative in parenteral (IV) medications. Benzyl alcohol is also known for its toxic effects including respiratory failure, vasodilation, hypotension, convulsions, and paralysis. Sixteen Neonatal deaths have been associated with the use of benzyl alcohol as a preservative in saline flush solutions.[6] Preservative free solutions are now being used for the infant population.[citation needed] Benzyl alcohol should be avoided by people with perfume allergy.[citation needed] Print this off and show them what is in their great.....tanmax

I just checked 2 that I carry on the higher end PotenC and CT Seven Bronzer and Yep, it's in there. Your clients will call you out on it. Don't look like an ***.

Rep Power: 17 | Re: Hawaiian Tropic Tan2Max last year I had a customer use a drugstore bronzer and it got on the white part of the bed. it was only there long enough for the person to tan 15 minutes. when I went in to clean the bed, the spot would not come off, not even with straight bleach on a towel. I confronted the customer the next day and showed her the spot and told her that I would let it go this time, but to not use that stuff anymore on my beds or I would have to charge her for the part to be replaced. I also told her that the quality of bronzer she was using was nothing but paint and probably blocked most of the UV she was trying to get by laying in the bed in the first place. anyhoo. I use that spot on the bed whenever someone comes in with that crap. I show it to them, ask them if they want to put something like that on their skin and also (depends) give them a sample of something to try. I hate the spot on the bed because it is white and I am anal about keeping it clean, but the spot seems to have been very beneficial in deterring store bought bronzers. I am still looking for the one common ingredient in all that crap to use against them, but have not found it yet. so as for the cheap accelerators, I am still struggling, but definitely have the bronzers for the most took care of. |
