Rep Power: 0 | I've been doing in-door tanning without putting on any lotion or cream. I know that's very bad for the skin. The reason why I don't use lotion is due to my extremely sensitive skin. I'm just too afraid to use anything that might give me hives and things of that sort. Recently, I've been getting a little worried about not using lotion because I've been seeing flakey skin around my chest area. Even though I don't get tan very easily, I'm not really looking for a bronzer or anything like that - just something plain and natural. Wearing some kind of lotion is probably better than wearing none. My roommate uses Cocoa Butter (not sure what brand). Is that stuff any good? What should I use after tanning? Any suggestions? Thanks a lot for your help![ This Message was edited by: Jenswizzle on 2004-07-11 14:48 ] |

Rep Power: 21 | Indoor tanning you always want to use a lotion. I would not reccomend using something over the counter such as cocoa butter prior to tanning for the simple fact that 1. it could harm the salons acrilycs and 2. Indoor tanning products have different ingredients which help accelerate the tanning process. With sensitive skin I would reccomend Hidden Treasures by Fiji. It is a hypo allergenic, no scent, no bronzers and very moisturizing. after tanning i would reccomened you use something that is aloe based or water based. Mineral Oils are found in 95% of the products purchased at your local drug store. Mineral Oil is horrible for your skin since it coates your skin and does not allow your skin to absorb oxygen and excrete toxins. I really like Angel by designer skin, She the Cats Pajamas by Swanky Girl. Also if you would like to accelerate your tan dont use bar soap. It is very drying to skin. Swanky Girl has 5th avenue minx which is a mild exfoliant and bodywash. Total Submersion is another great daily body wash. I am fair skinned, and by using proper tanning products I am able to achieve a nice tan. Good luck to you |

Rep Power: 0 | A friend of mine felt the same way. Not only did she feel like she would have a reaction, she felt dirty after using a lotion to tan. I recommended Secret Rapture by DS and a sticker to show her results. She swears by it, if she is visiting my salon while we have customers, she'll insist they try it. Almost every sample we have sold has resulted in a bottle purchase. DS uses Aloe Vera as a base for their products to help dry skin, and Licrorice Extract as an anti-irritant. I would still check the ingredients to be sure there's nothing you sensitive to. |

Rep Power: 0 | I agree with Girl7. DS Secret Rapture is one of our best sellers. It has no tingle, bronzer, or coolant and you get a great tan. Ask a salon to order a bottle for you if they don't have it in stock. It is definitely worth it. |

Rep Power: 22 | JEn, what brands does your salon have to offer. I would start by sampling a few they have. Find one you like the smell of the start and see what results you get. DO NOT use a tingle unless you want. YOu should always use lotions when tanning and make sure you use a good moisturizer when you get out of the shower. The moist your skin is the better it will tan and the longer you will keep the color. |
