I have been selling "tanning" for over 8 years now. I have a tanning salon in my fitness club. We are a very small town and so I do quite well with my tanning. I stock many lotions and retail is good. I have a hard time convincing clients to use or try tingle or bronzer lotions. Most just want a good strong step 2. So I sell Extreme, Drama Queen, Creamy Oil from Figi Tan, and many others. Any ideas or hints on how to inform people not to be afraid of tingle? Thanks!

Sell sun capsules by John Abate. They are a low tingle oil and I can't begin to tell you how positive the results are. Like you just got off the beach. I Sell TONS.

If you want a step process like less tingle to more tingle. I would recommend the Swedish Beauty Tingle line it makes progressive steps, so you can pick the tingle your customers enjoy. It Jumps from 1, 5,7,10, 15,25, 30. That way you progressively get more tingle into your lotion. If you are looking for bronzers then the SB bronzing line works. It's all about what the customers perfer. If they are fine with the tan they have let them be. But if they are complaining that they aren't tanning fast enough or they look they they aren't tanning then say something. I know that lotions are hard to push in fitness studios in general. You can always hand out sample packs when they buy a taning package, once most people try them it makes it easier to sell them. I would also look into getting yourself SmartTan certified. They tell you alot abou the lotions and makes it easier to sell when you know more information.
Hope this helps.

When I was in a salon selling I told my clients the way I used Tingle Products. I explained I have a hard time getting my legs as dark as my stomach etc because it is just a hard area to tan on top of exfoliating the area all the time by shaving. I found that putting a low tingle lotion like Tantalize by Swedish Beauty just on my legs was not at all painful because that is not a real sensitize area and it improved my tanning results. Once they see how dark their legs are getting they will start putting it on other areas of their body. Then bingo you have tingle users!

I always warn my customers about the 20-30 minute blotchy reddness factor and they usually wind up loving tingle. I myself am obsessed. Then again I have had girls freak out and want to go to the hospital thinking their skin is melting off....tingle is definately an aquired taste but definately I would recommend it to daring tanners who want to up their tan to another level

Thanks for the info. I like Peppermint Patty's idea of only using tingle on the less sensitive leg skin. And I do have ladies saying how their legs are not tanning as well as other areas. Great info, thanks again!
