Rep Power: 0 | I was reading the Tanning Trends magazine when I came across the advertisement for Maverick S-87. Anyone seen the picture of the girl grabbing the legs of the girl with the lacy thong and head right under her butt? ( why choose one position when you can have multple?) ok that's a gross one and the there is the lotion with the women ( who needs a tan) holding her boobs -www.biddiscombe.com. I mean you should atleast use a girl with a tan if you are going to put her half naked in a magazine to sell tanning lotions. I think this is disgusting and not a good way to entice someone to buy there product. Unless you like the slutty approach. |

Rep Power: 0 | I agree. We, meaning the great majority of us, are tanning a lot of teenagers and even have a lot of younger kids in salon just waiting on someone who is tanning. For this reason, we do not and wont ever carry any lotions which have labels of half naked to fully naked women on them, nor do have magazines available which show pictures of them. We don't even have posters up. We are in a small town where you either have a child in a classroom with the same teacher you had when you were your child's age, or you just flat out know just about everybody. Sex may sell, but not in our salon. |

Rep Power: 0 | I am responsible for the mavericklotion ad, I am not sorry that you feel this is distasteful. The industry that you are in is evolved around vanity and looks. I feel that the lotion line that maverick is selling is called the PHat line is appealing to the younger generation therefore should have a voluptuous young woman in the ad. I am tired of hearing how people are offended about seeing nudity in ads and on TV, when an average 12yr old has seen over 10,000 simulated murders on TV. Everyone knows SEX sells--its not anything new. I think it is hypocritical to say that you are offended by an ad that is for an industry that thrives off of people who want to improve there self image (as everyone knows is to gain attention from the opposite sex). " are you offended by the heavy play of drug use, couples appearig to be having intercourse on the beach, even hints of satanic worship, without naming ads as this is the nature of advertising. Here at maverick we are a new aggressive company with innovative exciting products--our ads are intended to be cutting edge as well, they are not meant to be offensive, just sexy as this is the beauty industry the model is in fact a 4 year employee at one of our salons, graduating this year with a marketing degree. more of her can be seen on our websites www.bronzebodytanning,com and Mavericktan.com |
