I'm pretty fair skinned and usually burn very easily in the sun. I wanted to get a little bit of color on my face, but I take some medication for acne and the doctor said that it wouldnt be good to lay out or go to a tanning salon. I was wondering what a good face lotion is to give me a little color (I dont want to be dark dark brown, just something that gives me a slight bit of color). I also wanted something for the rest of my body that would offset my face. Any help is appreciated, thanks

what are you taking? I have found clients who use any prescribed meds for acne, their faces very rarely tan. They will cut back the use and find their face will tan and with tanning the acne does clear up. I of course am no doctor so this is just experience.
With most lines of tanning lotions you will find that they carry a self tanning lotion or spray. I suggest you try something like that, you may want to do a test area first, because of the meds you are on, there maybe some irritation.

sup - while you are taking these meds you should NOT tan OR use a sunless product...

The tazorac is very DRYING and if you are applying it spot to spot ( ****, even doing a full facial) will make your skin very sensitive and not a GOOD base for using a bronzer (which does better on exfoliated, healthy skin)....

Also - you NEED to allow the treatment to begin to work - - keep the pores clear of added potential irritants....

California Tan has a bronzer compact that may be too dark for you called Suddenly Sun - - - I would suggest either going with a Pro Cosmetics line (Clinique') that will color match you for that boost of color - - - and has product made for acne prone skin....

Once you are off the tazorac - - you can still tan on the E-mycin (1 pill a day??) if you advise the salon staff you are ON THIS MED, they will cut back your normal exposure time to avoid the photosensitivity issues.

thanks sheila. so until i'm off the tazorac you would hold off on clinique or any of the other face tanners? I put on tazorac before I go to bed, and I take e-mycin in liquid form, 2 tablespoons a day. I stopped by a salon by my house today to ask them the same questions and a lady told me i should try clarins...all i want is a hint of color on my face and i can worry about the rest of my body any other time.

Try Designer Skins Halo. I have a gurl come in and her face usually gets red in the Turbo beds so she started using this on her face. It has SPF 4 in it and it blocks the UVB rays which make your face red. Her face doesnt get red anymore when she goes in them.

UVB will make ANYONE red if you are OVEREXPOSED.... and again - the premise of photosensitizers is not just for your face.... your whole body will be subject to the same antibiotic....

Honestly - the less chemicals involved on an ACTIVE acne case the better... Especially Tanning products with or without DHA But SUP I would recommend going with a Pro Cosmetics line (Clinique') that will color match you for that boost of color - - - and has product made for acne prone skin.........

If your treatment will be the E-mycin over a long course of time.... after 2-3 weeks (and the skin is clearing) very light doses of UV in a base level bed would be a nice way to shine that bacteria hiding in your pores.... Super duper moderation is the key

Clinique makes a product called Prescriptives .... and it can be best matched to your skin tone... and is specially for problem skin.....

i've been in a bed once before, and was contemplating starting to go regularly but the dermotologist told me to stay out of them and the sun, my face at least. In the sun, I burn a lot anyway without getting much color after. So yeah, just looking for a little color on my face, without all the fragrance, then i can do the rest of my body in a bed. Should I go for Designer Skins Halo? Talked to a lady at the salon who i explained my situation to, and she said to use clarins. Not sure if she knew what she was talking about. I rather spend 50 bucks for a product that does the job than have to buy 2-3 of them for me to find the right one. Thanks for the help
