Hi. I just joined this site today. However, I have been viewing posts for well over a month now and have found many of the information provided on this site to be beneficial. I would like to thank everyone for their great information. To give a little background on me, I have been tanning for less than a year now. I have always been relatively pale and started going to the tanning bed last april. I liked my appearance with some color in my skin so I kept going. I guess my problem is that I haven't found a lotion that satisfies me. I have these lotions in the following order: Cote D`azur Creme Brulee, Cote D`azur Chocolait Framboises, Caribbean Gold Smokin, Austrailian Gold Flash fire, Emerald Bay Mojo, John Abate Private Reserve, Fiji Surface of the Sun, Designer Skin Bombshell, and Designer Skin Goddess. Out of all of them, Surface of the Sun has given me the best color but as everyone has stated, the smell lingers and is atrocious. Goddess has been the best for me overall but it is not giving me the results I desired. I am thinking of getting a really good non-tingle lotion and alternating between tingle and non as someone else suggested. I have always bed jumped and keep my skin well moisturized. My question is, what is the best non-tingle lotion that will give great results like a tingle would, in your opinion of course and also, what is the best tingle lotion or lotion period that you have used that has given you better results if you have used any of the products I have listed above? Sorry for the loaded question, but I am desperate for advice and help. Thanks soo much!

Christina ~ sorry for the delay in anyone responding to you .... I kinda thought the 'Mods' here would be all over you like White on Rice ~ directing you to a client site (owned and operated by the same Ching Meister that owns this one ) .. www. Iamtan .com

However ~ before you leave empty handed ... you need to understand that every lotion you listed is a professional quality level .... but not ALL are appropriate or work the SAME for every skin type out there.

There is a real concern here that you are ATTEMPTING a 'race change' .... and thinking that using high stimulant products will 'force the bloom' beyond the natural barriers.....

Hot does not equal 'good' - - - either in a lamp strength or a lotion.

Although many clients of tanning believe that unless they are sweating, stinging and on fire, that they are not getting color.

Stimulant lotions have their place for advanced tanners..... they should NOT be used every tan (we suggest 3-4 tans on....3-4 tans with a non-stim) to help boost past the natural plateaus....

DHA Bronzers also have their place for advanced tanners ~ but make no mistake .... it's a color stain additive.... not a better tan.

For so many humans, the results we 'SEE' thru our eyes are NOT ACCURATE.... you sound like you feel you are NOT DARK ENOUGH ~ and yet, you may be very VERY dark..... get a photo taken.... place your arm next to someone you think has a nice tan ~ you may be surprised at how dark your color really is.

As to lotions without HOT tingles, that incorporate a really nice bronzer - you should try Swedish Beauty's Dangerously Dark.... 2 kick *** bronzers with wonderful skin care results.... Or Matahari's Royal Jamaican Hemp (no bronzers) but a good product for intermediate to advanced tanners.

Be aware your 'tingle' products will make you FEEL like you have immediate results .... but there is no need for discomfort or repeated use of these products if you are in QUALITY lamps in well maintained beds.

I could smack you around prior to a session and you would get the same 'results'

Good advice angel. I would stay away from the tingles, and go with a nice bronzing accellerator. Try "Believe" by designer skin- smells good, gives nice color, good for the skin !!!

Thanks for the input. I am not however trying to accomplish a "race change", but get a tan I am satisfied with. If you saw me, you would think I only went to the tanning bed about once a month. I just don't maintain a good tan even though I moisturizing properly. As I stated in my first post, I am thinking of cutting back on tingle and getting a non-tingle lotion because I do think my skin is almost immune to the tingle factor. I am also not sweating or burning up to the point to where I want to pass out with using these tingle lotions. I wouldn't allow myself to go through that torture. Even though I have used bronzers with my tanning lotions, I do not like them. They wash away incredulously fast from my skin. I am asking advice on a non-tingle lotion with no bronzers that would be the best for me to alternate between my tingles. Also, what is a great tingle product that I have not tried that you think may give better results. I just want to be complacent with my tan! Thanks again for your input!!

I only recommend bronzers to those that don't have the "genes" to tan well, otherwise use something else. Personally a salon that pushes bronzers on clients that have the ability to tan well are just covering up for poor tanning lamps. Tingles?hot actions work great if you can put up with the immediate after effects. I had a client that was hard to tan and she ended up having to purchase a high end lotion (non-tingle) before she actually started see the results. Although alternately between a high-end maximizer and tingle is also good advice. Good luck, tan responsibly and give it some time.............

* you may not be a person that will ever be satsified with your results and this could be for a variety of reasons....*

I would have to say without your 'Tanning Frequency Schedule' and knowledge of the TYPE of beds you are using - that any advice we give you would be useless.

Pale skin (naturally very light) takes massive effort to build a base level and beyond (as compared to how fast your J-Lo friends can get their base)....

No matter WHAT lotion you use, or what type of lamp you are in..... if you have not used an exposure schedule that will gently build your body's protective pigment - you are wasting your time and your money.

If you really want fact based advice from salon owners - - you need to share some more facts.....

I am a very fair blonde.... I BURNED as a client for 6 years due to LACK of knowlege and LACK of ethics of the place I was tanning ----- I now have a kick *** tan - one that I can maintain tanning once every 9-11 days in REGULAR base beds....

Did this happen over nite? NOPE

Did I tan on a daily basis to get to this level ??? NOPE

But I can tell you - that Tingles and cosmetic bronzers (and that is what you are complaining about - [not a DHA bronzer]) are not for skin that does not have a BASE in place....

Based upon the info you have provided - I can only assume you are not tanning in appropriate intervals and are trying to FORCE your tan with stimulants that are meant for people with advanced tans.

If you feel that this is not the case, you can provide us with your tanning schedule for the past month or so .... or see if ForeverTan can help you over on IamTan ...

Try using Rapture by Designer Skin, I have seen some great results from it and no bronzers or tingle. Just an all around good lotion.

What statement did I make that made everyone assume I just tan once in a blue moon? The statement about how I look like I only tan once a month didn't mean that I actually do. For now, I am going twice a week due to my work schedule which has been in progress for a little over two weeks. Before then I would go at least four times a week. The salon I go to doesn't quite mesh well with it for the time being but after February first, I can go more often since she will be open later. The tanning beds are well maintained and the bulbs are wonderful. The lady actually got me a job at where I am working now. I thought I had given some background on myself. I had stated that I have been relatively pale, brown hair and brown eyes( both naturally) and that I have been tanning for less than a year. I would love to lay out in the sun but who has the time and I would have attended a tanning bed sooner but I have been misinformed for copious years that I could not get in one due to screws in my knee. ANyways, I am interested in learning about a tan schedule that may be best suited for me. I have a standard bed package and I occasionally jump up to a super bed or the sundasher. After the 1st, I will undoubtedly go everyday after work. Do you think that may be too much tanning or should I go less? As far as burning goes, I burned slightly in the beginning but that is due to the obvious reasons of not being exposed to light like that. Since then, I haven't. As I have previously stated, tingle lotions don't make me feel uncomfortable. I don't sweat or want to scream or anything. I actually like it. They don't irritate me what so ever. It's just I know I should cut back. Thank you Sunkissedtan and Coconut for the suggesstions. I will check it out. Once again, if anyone has any advice for a great lotion that is non-tingle and with no bronzers that you love, I would love to be informed about that. Also, what is your favorite moisturizing lotion? Is anyone a fan of Hempz? Everyones advice is greatly appreciated and noted!
