Rep Power: 23 | I just recieved a phone call from them asking me to purchase their lotion. Never heard of them never used them before. I asked them to send me samples, they said they dont. I never buy lotion if I cant try it out first. But still I was quit curious to know about this line. |

Rep Power: 0 | Okay! I will be the first to say that I have been SUCKERED into buying from telemarketers bonce before. (Ever heard of CURRANT) Well when Millinium called the employee who answered the phone asked the 1st questions that we ask all sales people 1. Do you sell to beauty supply houses & 2. Do you sell over the internet, since the lady (Kit) said no she listened to her spill. She then referred her to me and I listened. They offer a 30 day buy back on the first order and I said okay (I really did it to prove a point to my employee because she really wanted to try this lotion) Well my 8 bottles (4-blaque & 4 lumina) came in on Wednesday and I sampled out each to my customers. The other 6 bottles were gone by Friday and I had people requesting them. So needless to say I had to eat CROW with my employee (but thats ok) and our 2nd order should be in Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope this helps. With the 30 day buy back whats the harm??? |

Rep Power: 0 | I have silently watched these forums for the last year and have seen continuous statements about the "telemarketing" techniques of certain tanning lotion companies. One thing that I notice over and over and over is that the salon owners state that if a lotion is so good, then send a sample. How many of you attend the shows in Vegas or Nashville? How many of you come home with TONS of free product? I have heard stories from some owners about having bags of lotion and not even knowing who they got it from!!! Now, about free samples....I am one of those "dreaded" sales people, that do make a living selling tanning lotions via the telephone. I do not work for the companies that are continuously listed here though!! However, I do deal with the constant requests for free product. I have been doing this job for over 3 years now and I can count on just over one hand the number of acutal orders I have had from the umpteen samples I have sent out. It's not because it's a "bad" product, it's because salon owners are either looking for free product to get a profit from or they are to wrapped up in their current products and afraid of making a change. I ask certain questions before sending samples....is this something your customers would purchase, is this a price range that will benefit you, is this sample only going to be used by you and your employees or will you share it with your customers. We don't send out packets, we provide a full 8 oz bottle of product. Plenty to go around and share!! Salon owners need to remember, even though they are the one's selling the lotion, they are not the same skin type as their entire customer base and cannot tell if a certain lotion will work for a customer without trying it on them. Our company has made it very easy for a salon to get product at a very reasonable cost and we are willing to sell one or two bottles of the lotion with a 30 day guarantee...that's ample time to sample and get your feed back from your customers. Sometimes you need to take a nominal chance on something that could be quite profitable for you and if it doesn't work, don't trash the company, just get your money back and move on to the next lotion....not all lotions made by the same company are necessarily bad. |

Rep Power: 23 | sassie, I haven't been to a trade show yet, but am booked for Vegas. Never got the freebies and probably won't if it makes me feel even remotely like a vendor groupie. I'm fine without them, nor do I ask my distributor for free stuff. They offer on occasion and of course I accept. My reasoning for not doing business with telemarketers is not necessarily because I don't like their product, it is the lack of respect they show for me and my time. Company A can call me on Monday at 10:00 and tell me about the same "new" lotion they told me about two months ago. They will again call me on Thursday, even when I have asked them not to. Remember too, it is usually a long winded battle to even get that much in as they ramble on about their product while I have people standing at my counter and most of the beds needing to be cleaned. Many months ago I politely told the caller that I was busy and really needed to get off of the phone (back when I was still stupid enough to even listen at all) and he promptly came back with "Yeah, busy staring out the window?" That did it for me, goodbye forever. Now would you like to hear about Companies B and C that called while I was on the phone with A? I do not listen to telemarketers at work or at home, period. |

Rep Power: 23 | I think we have valid points from both sides here however I do side with Tamar on the fact that quite often these telemarketers that call do not respect the fact that we are busy people who are working just like they are when they call. If I can respect what you do for a living, respect me and leave me alone when I am doing what I do for a living. If I want to buy your lotion, I will call you and I appreciate the fact that you call and tell me about your specials but don't call me twice a day. Stacey |

Rep Power: 23 | Sassie123, What you do is not easy..I give you that. BUT like the others have stated..Acknowlegde what we do....a "no thanks, I am all set on lotions right now" should be suffient. But often time it leads to a 25 words per second speil to get it all in before I hang up. If the manufacturers just spend the time ,$ and effort to get online to reach the salon owners they could save alot of money. Try using those addresses and #'s you purchase to harrass us to send us A single sample....not a bottle. Instead of peeing me off. I usually try them personally. If your lotion is good, priced right, diversion free, and the telemarketers is consciencious of MY TIME. I WILL CALL YOU. And guess what I will post about it and talk personally to other salon owners and others will call you.. get it???? P!ss me off annoy me and I will post that too. it is up to the telemarketers to change thier reputations... Do not ask us to stop picking on poor telemarketers. Guess what we ARE THE CUSTOMERS!!! We write the checks.. so please take notes.. this is important...provide a quality product and never call a salon cold.... As for the 30 money back crap.... when I first opened I feel for telemarketer too. Just try to return it!! It took 26 days to get the company to actually give me the freaking RETURN address to send it back to. And the customer service # was not toll free like the reordering # that was on my invoice...AHHHH let us not forget the friendly voice on the other side of my phone. After all of that I had to PAY for the shipping and so on and so on.. Soo from hence forth..... GIVE ME A SAMPLE AND I WILL CALL YOU IS AND WILL BE MY POLICY!!! (one is fine) I just need to know what I MAY purchase.... but it in no way obligate me to be subjected to 45 addition telemarketing calls before the sample even reaches my D@mn mail box!!! Okk after the last few posts....I think you now maybe have a better understanding why some of us owners are very NEGATIVE about telemarketers. BTW would your company be interested in purchasing a Banner Ad from Tantalk??? LOL Mj _________________ BigDog B.O.D. TanTalk Moderator[ This Message was edited by: MJ on 2002-06-05 00:52 ] |

Rep Power: 23 | MJ nicely put, thereI times I will tell a telemarketer that i will purchase something from them, if they purchase something from me. It follows with an immediate " YA RIGHT " then they hang up. True if a product is so good out there and I want it I will do the research on the product and will order it myself. I dont need someone who has an automatic phone dialer to tell me how awesome there product is, they probably havent even tried it themselves and dont know a dam thing about the product, other then what they have written in fron tof them. My family was in the telemarketing business when it first started and trust me I know all the pitches and sale techniques. And it is true try returning it, good luck !!! And I love the " but if you order right now " or the " we have set aside 50 bottles for your company " or the "let me speak to my supervisor to see what I can do for you". What ever !!! |
