Rep Power: 23 | a fellow teacher was asking me about my tan today.... I told her that I use mostly base beds but that I spend a lot of money on good lotions. She told me she was leaving work a few minutes early today to go tanning. (we have the last 2 periods off anyway) I told her that I had some lotion in my bag if she wanted to try it but she said "no! they gave me a bottle for free!!" I HAD to see what it was. Australian Gold Tan Accelerator. I smelled it and it smelled just like the orange-scented SPF 8 I used to have. I didn't even ask her how much the membership was or anything... but she was so thrilled that she got free lotion. I told her that I have the grown-up stuff for when she's built up a base tan. hehehehe I guess my point is, she didn't question the cost. Or if she did, she was sold anyway. She got her membership and her "free" lotion and now the owner doesn't have to worry about her bringing in some crap from WalMart. And when she's out, she'll be back at the salon ready to buy another... |

Rep Power: 23 | I know that I have even said it also, but now that I think about it, i dont think that AG accelerator has an "ORANGE SCENT"... Its more of a sherbet....i dunno..... but its not completely Orange in my opinion... Does anybody else have a word to use for the scent??? ~meltdbutta~ |

Rep Power: 23 | We "bundle" also. Month, lotion, eyewear, and 1 free upgrade for $xx. Works very well here. They use lotion, and buy more later. They have own eyewear, so ours doesn't walk out the door. They upgrade at the end of the month and love it, leads to more upgrades or upgrade month at renewal. I highly recommend all salons trying this. |

Rep Power: 24 | Bundle Tanning Products with Tanning Packages! This is the absolute answer to stop your tanners from buying tanning product at beauty suppliers, retail stores, off the Internet or at flea markets. Tanners buy tanning products from these “diversion” sources because they believe that they are saving money that way. “Retail” indoor tanning products average about $8.00 a bottle. When you include a free “basic” indoor tanning product with every monthly membership you are eliminating that reason to buy products from somewhere else. I suggest you giveaway a product that you can buy for less than $5.00 with a retail value about $15.00. Your discussion point is getting more than just tanning but total skin care sessions and lotion. The reality is the membership is $15.00 less than the monthly fee because of the value of the indoor tanning product. What if a tanners does not want the indoor tanning product? It’s a package deal, period! The indoor tanning product is a gift and can not be separated from the package. But, for advanced tanners that need a better indoor tanning product, you will allow them to trade their gift bottle in for a $15.00 (the retail value of the product) credit towards another bottle of indoor tanning products . If you buy a $60.00 retail product for $15.00 then adding credit for $15.00 means you sold it for $45.00 but to get the credit they must buy their lotion from you! If they do not want the indoor tanning product, now is a great time to ask if they use and understand tanning products or what tanning product they are using if not the one included with the packaged membership program. Giving away a free bottle of tanning products with every monthly renewal promotes proper lotion use. If tanners say that they have not used their bottle during the month, check their visits knowing a bottle should only last 10 visits. Educate that tanners about why they should be using the proper amount of indoor tanning product with every tanning session. |

Rep Power: 22 | Gift with purchase is a great selling tool. Otherwise, why would all of the department store cosmetic lines do this over and over again? They do it because just the idea of giving someone something free will make them buy something. Many times, they get sales from people that normally don't buy their products. The salon I use gives you free upgrades everytime you renew your membership. The longer the renewal, the more upgrades. They give a discount on lotions too. The higher your membership level, the higher your discount. This time of year they have lines at a 40 bed salon so something must be working. |

Rep Power: 23 | Just started this as a special promo. A tanning package, a bottle of lotion (Def Dark or Coconut Colada) and a free set of eyewear. Customers, especially new ones are finding this great. Many do not want to have to choose a lotion and as someone mentioned it is a great way to introduce them to lotions and they will return to you to buy another one when there's is out. Stacey |
