Rep Power: 24 | As salon owners what are you doing to increase your sales and thus profits on indoor tanning products ? Have you decided to private label? Have you decided to take advantage of the rewards programs, Co-op advertising, or other insentives from brand names? Have you asked your distributor or switched distributors for better discounts on the products your stock? Have you attened or conducted training class for your staff to understand thus be better at selling indoor tanning products . How effective has this been, and what are you doing that was not mentioned here? |

Rep Power: 23 | beat them with a bottle if they dont buy any lol No really explain the benefits of using a lotion. Let them know healthy skin tans better. find out everything about the lotion before you sell it. The more you know the easier the product is to sell |

Rep Power: 23 | I have offered incentives for the purchase of tanning lotions in my salon. I also have the customers sign on thier agreement that they will show thier lotion and eyewear each time they come in to tan. Right now I have some great bags I purchased from Action Bags... they are rectangle vynal with 2 rope handles that zipper. ON the inside of the top I taped one of my business cards so they always have the address and phone number. Each bag is different... The offer products and free minutes in tanning for each one they purchase. For example: * Bombshell * Large bottle of Suspend * Large bottle of Moisturizer * Eye Candy * Emerald Bay Agave Twister Price $85.00 plus 100 free minutes! I have sold 2 today. I have some that are 49.00 and 60 free minutes a few in the 60.00 range with 80 free minutes. Each bag I offer has a tanning lotion, moisturizer , eye wear lip balm and either a body wash or spritzer of some kind. They go great becasue they have all they need in one bag and something to cart it back and forth in. They see that if they had to choose over purchasing today a lotion or minutes that if they buy the lotion they will get some tanning time too... Sorry it was long |

Rep Power: 23 | Our starter packs (month, lotion, eyewear, one upgrade at end of month) are flying off of the shelves, can't keep the lotion stocked...maybe we should up the price? We will add sample packet of low-heat tingle and lip balm next month. |

Rep Power: 23 | >>>I also have the customers sign on thier agreement that they will show thier lotion and eyewear each time they come in to tan. They have to show their lotions to prove that they bought them in your salon? Or so you can ensure that they won't hurt your beds? What if a customer doesn't have any lotion to show?? What if a customer buys DST in your salon and then buys it online? Sure, they'll keep coming in with the same lotion only it won't be from your salon.... I'm all confused here. |

Rep Power: 23 | The incentive we give for buying lotion is a beautiful, dark, healthy tan. When we have the lil bit of extra time, I take a few minutes and educate groups of tanners who are waiting to tan. While the beds are full and people wait, I introduce new lotions and start explaining features and benefits. Every single client who walks through that door gets asked "What lotion are you using today?" or "Do you need lotion?" If I ask the "do you" question, then I say... "Tsk, tsk if you are tanning without lotion." No one is spared! If I get the glazed over, know-it-all expression of "blah blah blah" from them, then I say "Well, it's your skin... my speach is over, I just figured you wanted the most out of your tan." I tell them how to apply, read labels, the difference between bronzers, tingles and natural lotions. We talk about facial lotions (Illuminate and Lustrous) as well as tan extenders and how to properly moisturize and hydrate. We talk about waiting to shower and giving the skin a break. Then we talk upgrade units and why they should use them as well. My sales are freakin' incredible and there are days I leave the salon amazed at my sales. Right now, my #1 selling brand is Soakin' Up The Rays (as if you couldn't tell... LOL). |

Rep Power: 23 | I understand why you ask... to drive sales. And, as a former retail manager, I'm totally impressed. My question is this: What if I walked into your salon and you asked what lotion I was using today. I said "Marshmallow" or "DST" or whatever, something that your salon does not carry... What would your response be then? I am only curious because you said that every tanner has to show their lotion... so what happens if you don't like what you see? =) >>>The incentive we give for buying lotion is a beautiful, dark, healthy tan. Rep Power: 23 | Salon policy varies on bringing in different lotions. We ask if they have lotion to drive sales, educate, and protect our equipment. If they are using something like Eurocrap we inform them it is not allowed on our acrylics. I do not tell them they cannot use something just because they did not purchase it from me. I know some salons do, but with 6 competitors, I'd talk them right into going down the street. |
