I have heard a little about problems with the manufacturers of lotions and the public getting them at cost. Can someone please clarify which manufacturers and what are some good alternatives. I also don't know like what JA and other abbreviations mean I know SB. Please if any one can help with this I would appreciate it much.

sunshine, JA = John Abate, Caltan = California Tan. These are the two big boys that have come on the boards and made the commitment to salon owners that they will fight online, flea market, beauty supply and general public being able to purchase salon formula only lotions. This, in my opinion, is the companies that you need to support by stocking your salon with their products. I am sure others will follow suit, but for now these 2 are the only ones that have come on board with us. SB and AG are products of ETS, ETS is the company that you see all those ads in newspapers, etc. selling home tanning units to "our" clients. Once a client purchases a bed for home use, then they are able to purchase lotions at salon cost. Not only that, that one bed will probably, most likely take 3 + of your tanners out of your salon. This is one of the biggest diversion companies in the industry, in my honest opinion. Therefore, I do not stock Swedish Beauty or Australian Gold products. And besides, John Abate made the SB name what it is today. Luckliy he got to keep his formulas when he went with the name change. So for the die hard SB users, more than likely they used John Abate's formulas when he used the name Swedish Beauty.

Sunshine - Just do a search on the internet and you can easily find out what's available to the public at cost. Check out www.lotionbarn.com

People that come in seem to know the Swedish Beauty name the most. What are some of the equivalent lotions that SB has that are now JA? For instance, Sinful...what does JA have that would be equivalent to Sinful?

Ginger, the reason that they may know the Swedish Beauty Name so well it that John Abate' used his products to make Swedish Beauty so well know in the past years. What people do not understand is that when John lost the rights to the "SB" name he took his formulas with him and put his "JA" on the labels. So if you have someone that comes in and says I have used SB for years, and I really like the Forumula A or the Titaium, or the Spectrum they have been using John Abate formulas. The SB that came out in the past 2 years is not the orginal formulas.

Now for a comparision to Sinful, I really don't know cause the first year I stocked it and just about every bottle I had in my salon brokedown and I had clients bring theirs in also broken down. So I had to replace them with another product and have never stocked SB again. If they want something hot and a bronzer it it, JA has come out with a new product this year and I like it very well. It is JA Bronzer Tingle 4 with Photo Tan. Very good product. They also have it in 0 tingle. And they have the Cote d Azur line with Chocolaite Frambrosie tingle 2 with bronzer. See if you can convert some of your die hard SB users to another product that doesn't cater to diversion.

Hi,sunshinemylove! As Buntanner mentioned the JA-Cote d azur line, they also have Mango Flambe',bronzer plus tingler, too.(I never tried the choloaite frambrosie, but I think the Flambe is stronger then it-I got nice color from the Flambe)Also try Designer Skin's ,Enigma-nice tingler.Call them direct for free samples 877-756-3337.The Matahari line from CT has some nice tinglers. Can't help you with a distributor for the Washington area, but call CT or JA up & they will give you a name & # of a distributor for your state.Good luck & have fun trying all the new lotions.Amy
