I have not tried any tingle lotions yet.

Can someone describe how it feels? Can one get just as good a tan without using the tingle lotions? How should I start? Selection is pretty limited in my area, I would have to stick with Swedish Beauty.

Dear Lady Finger,
try the new Tanninglotion VIVA brazil from Germany. The Product Summer Level 2 is not too strong and enough for starter with tingle
factor.
Viva brazilŪ products are enriched with ample amounts of Vitamin A, E and C.
Other elements of Viva brazilŪ lotions also include anti-bacterial agents that work to prevent post-tanning odor. Viva brazilŪ understands the value of its recognizable attractive scent. A series of experiments were conducted in dermatology labs to find out which natural oils and scents compliment the vitamin-rich formula. Tanning with the Viva brazilŪ product line is an experience for all your senses
This tanning lotion was created with the goal of maximizing your tanning results while providing optimal skin care. Viva brazilŪ has been developed in a state of the art laboratory following the strict European EG-standards and incorporates the latest research in biotechnology. It has been dermatology tested and all compounds are plant derived. We are proud to say that no animal testing has been conducted with this product.
Viva brazilŪ products are manufactured in Germany and are under the constant supervision of an authorized laboratory.
The Viva brazilŪ Tingle Effect
Using Viva brazilŪ products that have a Tingle Effect will produce more visible and accelerated results. The active elements Methylnicotinate and Benzylnicotinate increase oxygen supply to the skin allowing you to attain a darker tan more rapidly. Methylnicotinate and Benzylnicotinate are also the ingredients responsible for the warm and tingling sensation you will feel on your skin while tanning. Apply the power of the Tingle Effect.Competitors with lotions containing tingle ingredients typically apply names, numbers or symbols in order to represent the quantity, or intensity of the tingle properties. Since there are no general guidelines or standards on the market for the measuring tingle strength, Viva brazilŪ has chosen to classify products into four different levels: Level1 (no tingle),and Levels 2, 3, and 5, to compliment different skin and tanning types

There are a lot of good tingle lotions on the market. I would start off with T-2 and work your way up from there over time. A lot of the lotions lose their tingles after a couple sessions. They do draw heat and you should notice the difference using the tingles. Good Luck

We start new tinglers with
DNA classic or hempz hot
both are really not to hot
They seem like a level 1 hot.
Once your acclimated to this (you dont feel any tingle) then you can move up!

By the way Hempz Hot is not a tingle lotion. It is a reddening lotion only, hence the name Hempz Hot.

Thanks for the responses. I think I may try Hempz Hot.

By the way, if I do a patch test of a tingle lotion at home, not on the tanning bed, will the sensation be the same or is the tingle produced by exposure to the tanning lamps?

Thanks again.

Depends, on your skin. I have found that some don't even start to tingle until you get out of the bed. Some will start right away. Try John Abate Formula S it is a tingle factor 1.

How do they feel? As others have said it depends on the level of "tingle" you choose. Feels like; well, it says tingle, but can be described as an itching sort of similar to a sun burn? I am trying to address the "feels like" part of your question. Some can tolerate it some can not. My sister can not stand it. I love it ~ I suggest using a cooling lotion after for those who do not like it. I don't know if it actually assists in the tanning process, but it "feels" like it to me, that is why I prefer it. Best of luck trying all! There are also "cooling" after lotions/sprays to use. I use these in the summer any how.
