Rep Power: 23 | We are well on our way to solving the problem with outside lotions being brought into my salon. We placed a large basket in the middle of the lobby. When we see someone bring in Eurotan, etc. We offer them a discount on an actual tanning lotion if we can add their bottle to the lotion cemetary. I've got six bottles in their so far and more people asking questions every day. When we explain the effects of Eurotan on the acrylics and tell them that eventually it will decrease any tanning effects they will see, they dump the bottle into the basket and start asking about the lotions we have displayed. |

Rep Power: 23 | I'm sorry Steve, but I am not a scientist, therefore I cannot tell you the exact ingredient. I can tell you that it has taken me hours to get this stuff off of my equipment before. The time I'm wasting trying to clean equipment, I could be selling and others could be using the equipment.Question for you Steve: Do you work for Eurotan? Do you allow people to use this stuff in your salon? |

Rep Power: 23 | Tangirl, No I don't work for Eurotan, and yes my customers can use any indoor tanning lotion they like. If you think misleading your customers is a key to long term business success, I think you won't be around long. You may ask how I keep the drugstore lotions out of my salons. Well the answer is not saying something I can't backup, but informing the customer that drugstore lotions are low end and they will get a superior tan with a high end lotion. As you know, that won't do it for some people. They want cheap lotion, so I include a low end lotion with every tanning package and membership I sell. Using salesmenship, if the customer wants a upgrade lotion I give them $10 off. To make a long story short, I don't have a problem with low end drugstore lotions.Steve Miller |

Rep Power: 24 | While we spend tireless hours educating consumers about superior lotions, we also do not allow them to use garbage in our salon. I will whatever I can to discourage it. I have better things to do then spend an hour chisling that crap off my acrylics. I am sure the acrylic makers are all for crap lotions...it adds to their bottom line when you have to keep replacing hazed/ruined acrylics. |

Rep Power: 24 | Try using this informational flyer to educate tanners on not buying lotions away from your salon! Why Tanners Should Buy Indoor Tanning Products only from a Tanning Salon! The Indoor Tanning Products , stocked by tanning salons are selected to help individuals achieve their darkest tan! Tanning and Sun Care products bought somewhere else may actually hinder the tanning process. Basic Moisturizers are not the same as After Exposure Tanning Products :Tanners need to know that some skin Moisturizers bought from retail stores and major cosmetic companies often contain ingredients that stop, diminish, or restrict your bodies natural tanning process. These non-tanning moisturizers may include:1) Natural and chemical sun blocks that prevent the bodies UV light absorption during a tanning session.2) Skin bleachers and skin whitening agents are designed to minimize age spots but also bleaching out tan skin.3) Skin exfoliates are designed to increase skin shedding to reduce wrinkles but peels away tan skin. 4) Most non-tanning moisturizers do not contain Tyrosine and other tanning ingredients designed to help the bodytan faster.Using After Exposure Tanning Products to Get Better Tanning Results?Experts widely believe that melanocytes are active up to 48 hours after the last tanning session. After Exposure Tanning Products are designed to be used as often as possible but especially after a shower and before bed to help your skin receive the maximum Moisturization and Skin Conditioning. Indoor Tanning Products and Outdoor Sun Care Products are Different:Tanners need to know that indoor tanning products are designed to help them get a tan and outdoor sun care products are designed to prevent them from getting a tan by blocking UV exposure. Never use a Sun Care (SPF)product in a tanning bed, because SPF products require as long as 30 minutes before the SPF ingredients activelyblock UV exposure. To prevent overexposure, reduce exposure time or cover smaller areas with a towel or clothing to block UV exposure. Some Tanning Products Bought Elsewhere will Damage Tanning Beds:Tanners need to know that indoor tanning equipment is very expensive. Many “tanning” products sold outside of tanning salons may have ingredients like mineral oil, product dyes, and other ingredients that will damage the tanning equipment and cause less UV exposure during the tanning session. Most major brands of indoor tanning products have been tested to be “tanning bed safe” meaning the ingredients will not damage or reduce the effectiveness of the tanning equipment. Some tanning salons may hold tanners responsible for damage caused by “Tanning” products not approved for use in that tanning salon.Would You Bring Your Own Food to a Restaurant?:Tanners need to know that bringing a tanning product bought from an outside source to a tanning salon is like bringing their your own food to a five star restaurant. You wouldn’t take a grocery store perm or hair coloring kit to your professional hair stylist to save a few dollars. Tanning salon owners are tanning professionals with a largevariety of premium quality tanning products to help tanners get better results from tanning sessions at prices that every tanner can afford.
