My skin was burning like I'd been really badly sunburnt but it seems 2 b ok now. I'd just like to know if this is supposed to happen 'cos it really scared me. My friend also used the same ltion and the same thing happened to her. Please help !!

Yes it is. It stimulates the epidurmal layer of the skin with an irritant and simulates a "burn" for a few hours. Exercising before or immediately afterward intensifies this affect because your heart rate is increased. This is a temporary condition and will diminish in a few hours. The reason that hot action and tingle lotions are manufactured and can be popular is through misinformation. (realize this is my big ole opinion) Tanners believe that they have to "burn" in order to acheive the ultimate tan. I personally cannot stand tingle or hot action lotions whatsoever. I have a gorgeous tan and don't feel the need to artificially stimulate it by irritating my skin unnecessarily. It is also my opinion that these products are drying to the skin. And because moisturized skin tans better than dry skin, it's another reason to stay away from those products.I've never enjoyed a sun burn and never will. Why would anyone want to use something so nasty?Littlebird, check the last poll on lotions... you'll see how many people use lotions that don't contain a tingle factor.------------------Laurie

They feel like they get something right away. If they can't see it right away, they don't believe the got anything.I don't like them.

It is all about instant gratification! It goes back to the popular myth that you have to burn in order to tan. Laurie hit the nail on the head. I do use tingle lotions once in a while, but not often. They definately should have explained this to you at the salon. What lotion was it??

Thanx 4 the advice. I did a patch test with it the other day, and the patch was red for a bit but it never went any browner than the rest of me.I didn't buy it from the salon, cos they were 2 expensive. I was stupid I know and I've learned my lesson not to buy really cheap lotions or hot action lotions anymore.

It's hard to buy a product today that doesn't produce this temporary rash. Maybe 75% of the products for sale have tingle. Another 20% have a chemical that turns your skin sort of brown if you don't shower that day. Some have both. This is the state of the tanning lotion industry today. Ain't it all something we're proud of?

I wouldn't consider those percentages to be correct, they don't have that many tingle lotions------------------Matt
