You can put a VHR in an Ergoline bed & it will last 700 hours, put that same lamp in another piece of equipment & it will only last 300-400 hours. A knowledgeable lamp distributor can give you good guide lines. A good meter is always a plus (Solarmeter 5.0 & Solarmeter 7.0) * You need these from the start. 5.0 is good to start with, then add the 7.0 meter later.

What you tell customers is, "we are a very proactive salon and we consult with our lamp vendors and available technology to ensure we always deliver the highest quality tan. If you ever feel otherwise, we always appreciate that feedback!" In terms of months - it depends how busy the salon is, how many units at each level, what units, how well distributed lamp hours are in the units, any maintenance issues, salon temperature and room sizes, etc etc etc. One salon could have to replace lamps in some unit every 2 months -- another unit in another salon might go two years!

In terms of the timing, the hours of lamp life breaks down by number of minutes per tan. So if you had a bed where you wanted to change hours after 600 hours and it was a 15 min max exposure bed, it might have an average session time of 12 minutes (customers starting at a lower time, working their way up). 12 mins avg tan time would equal 5 tans per hour. 600 hours would then be 3000 tans. So in some salons or with some units in a salon, you might get to 3000 tans in 6 months. In other salons, we have pulled out beds that weren't seeing 3000 tans in 6 years. So it really varies.
