Face Tanner Filter Glass??

Was curious if the face tanner filter glass ever goes bad and needs to be changed just like the acrylics? I have noticed lately that even after I put new face bulbs in they dont seem to do much. And if they do need changed.. where is best place to get them?

Re: Face Tanner Filter Glass??

So your saying they dont go bad or start preventing UV light from passing thru etc like acrylics??

If that is what your saying... are all 400watt facials the same? Or are some better then others etc?

Re: Face Tanner Filter Glass??

I would assume they go bad from all the heat...and hazing across them. But totally block the UV? Doubt it.

Re: Face Tanner Filter Glass??

Are you running them at least 15-20 minutes? Are you talking of a single lamp configuration or multiples?

Re: Face Tanner Filter Glass??

If they are blue glass style filters then yes, they do solarize & decrease output. Many HP bed manufacturers recommend that you change your blue glass filters every 2500-3000 hrs. (No one ever does this, but check the manuals on the big HP beds & you will see it.)

If you have mirrored glass like Ergoline/UWE, they do not solarize, but they can get burn/heat marks in the glass & this also will decrease lamp output.

Also check capacitors for HP lamps, no one ever does & they can cause many issues with HP lamps.

But how do you check capacitors?

Re: Face Tanner Filter Glass??

Get a Multimeter that reads Micro-farads or Capacitance, they are usually more expensive than the Radio Shack $10 version.

Capacitors frequently have values in the microfarad range, which is easily verified with a digital multimeter. The microfarad, abbreviated by the Greek letter "mu," which looks like a "u" followed by an "f," stands for a capacitance of one millionth of a single farad. Capacitance is a measure of a capacitor's ability to store electrical energy with a higher value corresponding to more energy. Capacitance should be within the tolerance written on the capacitor. For example, a 23.5 microfarad capacitor with a tolerance of 1.0 microfarad should register between 22.5 and 24.5 microfarads on a multimeter.
