Session Max after bulb replacement

I believe I read somewhere that after I put new bulbs in my beds that I have to cut down on session durations, but for the life of me I cannot remember where I read that. I checked my Iowa Regulations but didn't find it in there. Anyone?

It will depend, in part, on how long you let the lamps run before you replaced them with new lamps.

If they were already "quite shot", then brand new lamps (which are EXTRA "spicy" for the first 50 hours or so) maybe be quite a bit stronger and result in a burn for the client!

A rule of thumb for salon owners is to change lamps when they meter 30% less than when new. This may be, approximately, after 600 hours on a 100W lamp and 400 on a 160w+ lamp.

If a customer has a very good base, even 30% more strength may be "too much" of a jump. If your old lamps are more worn out than that, or for customers who aren't already doing full sessions and with a good base, they will almost surely get overexposed.

We generally replace at about 30% decrease and will cut our customer's time down about 20% for their first tan and then judge from there for each individual customer. So if they were going the full 15 minutes - we back them down to 12 and see how they do.
