160 Watt VHO Lamps not lighting at ends??

I have noticed lately that my 160 Watt VHO Lamps in my Standup Unit, are not lighting. Or atleast appear as if there is no light at one end. They are obviously on in the middle but about the top 2-3 inches of the bulbs at the top end are appearing as if they are not lit. Has anyone ever experienced this and if so can you let me know whats going on and what I need to do to fix it?

Thanks
Michael

Re: 160 Watt VHO Lamps not lighting at ends??

Nothing, this is normal. That is the cooling zone. Higher wattage lamps have this. Lower wattage lamps have a shorter cathode and higher wattage lamps have a longer cathode. This is normal.
