Any kind of lamp?

I just bought a tanning bed for home. It's an older bed (1994ish) and the lamps in it are Voltarc Solar Series1 F71T12 BL BP 50.

I don't know the wattage of these and I don't know what the wattage for the bed is. I was going to guess 100w. Anyway.. I think the lamps need to be changed and was wondering what I could put in there.

Can I put any F71 100w (if that's the correct wattage) lamp in there?? I was looking at 6-7% UVB lamps, but I think the ones currently in it may be around 5. Does anyone know? And is there a way that I can find out the wattage somewhere on the bed??

Thanks in advance!

Yes, any tanning lamp of the same length and wattage will work. 6-7% is a high UVB lamp, so that will have a lot of kick.

What is the make/model of the bed?

Yeah.. I used to tan in a bed with 6% UVB and it was perfect for me! 95% of the tanning salons in the area are using bronzing lamps in all of their beds, which doesn't do anything for me unless I've had a few doses of UVB beforehand.

The brand is Klaus.. I've googled it and can't find anything about it. I got the bed for about $100, and everything works fine. When I Google it the only thing I can find is a craigslist ad. It has 24 lamps. I can't find a model name on it.

Hmm, yeah, I came up with the same thing. Maybe one of the old timers here can help?

The bed at the above URL is possibly 160 watt (3680 / 160 = 23... not sure why they tell the combined wattage and not the number of lamps, but okay) Is it possibly the same bed??

Mine has 2 110v plugs (one for the top and one for the bottom)... I don't know if that bed in the ad does or not. It looks just like that except mine's not white, it's more peach colored.

Re: Any kind of lamp?

After some searching, I found that the Voltarc Solar Series1 F71T12 BL BP 50 is equivalent to the GENESIS 105W PLUS F71T12-BP-105W, so I'd give some 100 watt tubes a try.
