Improper starters for lamps?

I just purchased a 1991 Sunquest Pro S 20. It works beautifully and I cleaned it up and wiring has been checked. Lamps are nice and strong. However: The starters don't always fire up. I have 100 watt cosmolux CA1-12 bi-pin preheat lamps (recommended for bed is CA-11, not CA1-12). But the starters are cosmedico K12 Single 115-140 watt starters. Should I simply buy new starters that are the same to try to solve the problem, assuming the issue is just that the starters are old, or should I go to a different type of starter for these lamps, assuming that there is a better quality starter on the market? Also, Are my lamps ok with the slight difference between CA1-12 vs CA1-11?

Re: Improper starters for lamps?

Thanks for the info. I appreciate your response. on researching the starter you posted, I see the details on both types of starters are the same. Again....what is your opinion on what is best...new or different?

Re: Improper starters for lamps?

K-12 starter is the same as the Philips S-12 starter. Just private labeled. Stay away from electronic starters.

The bed uses 100 watt lamps. All 100 watt lamps that are F-71 length and bi pin will work in that unit. The difference in the model numbers is the output. Electrically the bed will not know the difference.

Replace the starters if the lamps don't start. Make sure your voltage is between 220 and 240 volts. No higher and no lower.
