A question about lamps and room temperature

Will a cold room affect the performance of my lamps?

Room is approx 35F right now.

Re: A question about lamps and room temperature

Are they boxed up being stored or in a running bed?

If boxed up I would assume they would be fine.

Re: A question about lamps and room temperature

They are fitted in the bed.
The bed is not in much use at the moment.

Re: A question about lamps and room temperature

Your lamps will not run at peak performance in that temperature.

A comfortable temperature for equipment in a salon in 73 degrees.

Why so cold?

Re: A question about lamps and room temperature

Hmm, what if I run the bed for 20 mins or so to 'warm' it up before using it, would that get the lamps working a bit better?

The reason for the cold temperature is that unfortunatly I have no heating supply to where the bed is. :-( That and the fact its winter.

Appreciating your reply DB Hottie :)

Re: A question about lamps and room temperature

If you warm it up in the morning and continuously run it throughout the day- I would think it would run fine.

;)

Put a little electric heater in the room that it's in. 35F??? That's nuts.

Imagine laying down on that cold acrylic????

Re: A question about lamps and room temperature

The cold temp will not hurt the lamps or bed. The cold temp will reduce output until the bed comes up to normal running temp. The lamp wall temp is optimum at 108ºF. That is right on the lamp surface.

Sucking in cold air like that will take it a little while for it to reach that. Best ambient room temp is 68º-74ºF. This intake of temperature will keep the bed running at optimum temp. If it is out of that range then performance suffers.

If the lamp is too hot or too cold then output decreases. As a lamp heats up the output goes up, once it reaches the optimum temp then maximum output is realized. If the temp continues to climb then output will then begin to drop again. This is why A/C and not box fans is required for proper cooling and temperature maintenance.

Re: A question about lamps and room temperature

When you turn on the cold bed you will notice that they are not very bright. Almost like they are not even on in some cases. Just run the bed or set the place on fire.
