The bed I have automatically starts at 20 mins so I can only encourage they use less but doesn't mean they are going too. And since I'm busy, I don't always have time to babysit.

Can I ask where you get your lamps from? I'm getting ready to call around and see what is offered for my bed.
Please ask Brian Oshman or someone for help on this. You are at great liability risk if you are running a salon where everyone is put in the bed for 20 mins and recommended to get out before it goes the full cycle. There are timers available so you can vary the time to give the proper exposure for each client.

You have no business operating a tanning bed at all. Seriously, you need to educate yourself on this stuff before you start seriously injuring people.

You need a timer on the bed that is controlled by the ATTENDANT, not the client. Yes it is your JOB to babysit these people and educate them.

UVB is the burning ray, UVA is the tanning ray. Like Robert said the reflector is designed to "reflect" the total UV (UVA+B) back towards the tanner.

Just because a lamp is rated for "1000 hr" life doesn't mean you should wait unitl then to relamp.
