Re: CAPACITORS

I'll say this is a common issue with older HP machines. No one ever checks the capacitors & they can cause so many issues. If your unit was made before 2008 you should really have them all checked & replace any that are ready too low. Depending on the HP unit, if 1 capacitor goes bad it will start to feed off the others, then you could have 5 or 6 that are reading very low.

Re: CAPACITORS

How do you read capacitors or test them?

Re: CAPACITORS

The higher end multi meters will have a reading for capacitance. Usually MFD.

Many large tanning beds & booths have fans/blowers that also have capacitors that need to be checked if over 4-5 years old.
A bad fan capacitor will actually slow the airflow rate & cause issues.

Good advice John. I had an orbit that had the body blower work on high but not on low that was due to this.

It's a bit pricey and probably overkill but if anyone wants the rolls royce of multimeters I highly recommend the Fluke 87. Buy once and it'll last forever. In reality you can probably find one for 20 bucks at harbor freight that will do the job though

Re: CAPACITORS

Should the capacitors be discharged before testing?
