UWE Cayenne - Converting from 3 phase to single?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2005? Power of Chi which to my understanding is basically a cayenne which is currently set up for 3 phase. I was wondering if single phase conversion on this is simple or going to be a big hassle where i am better off just finding another bed. Also assuming it would take an 80 amp breaker if wired single? thanks in advance!

Remember when going from 3 phase you double up on one leg, there need to be a balance of power , check the diagram on UWE site and look to see if good or not also , by going to single phase it causes a lot more heat and draw more amp, if I was you I keep the 3 phase.

Check with Brian Oshman. If anyone will know he will, and he is in Jersey. He's rewired 2 of my HP beds that were 3 phase to single phase. Granted it does take more power, but if you got it....use it. In my case I didn't have 3 phase, but had 1000amp single phase service. My HP's run on 125 amp breakers.

Re: UWE Cayenne - Converting from 3 phase to single?

Thanks guys, I am unfortunately in the situation where three phase is not an option. The upgrade would have to be for the entire building, and nobody else onboard. The most I am able to bring in is a measly 400 amps single phase so I have to choose equipment accordingly. I already have this bed so if the conversion isn't too bad I will just use it. If not it's no big deal though. It's been sitting in my friends garage for a couple years

Re: UWE Cayenne - Converting from 3 phase to single?

Most UWE beds are very easy to convert to single phase. Check the manual, but the ones I have seen are simply a matter of changing the position of a jumper on the main connection. You will have to check the breaker and wire size recommended in the manual as well as both will be higher than if wired 3 phase.
If in doubt call PC Marketing for info...

I agree with Shane..call Brian

I have his contact info if needed...he is over the river, so an ez commute to LI...would not be surprised if PC does not suggest him. Brian has done a lot of contract work for PC..He knows it all...curious, where in LI are you? Nassau/Suffolk?

Eastern suffolk, have one location in riverhead and opening another in southampton in the next month or so which is where I am trying to source equipment for. I bought a bunch of beds last year planning on bringing in 3 phase but the upgrade was in the area of 40,000 dollars and since I was paying rent almost 2 years already trying to get building permits I'm not about to dump that into 3.5 years of remaining lease
