Sun Capsule Wiring Conversion

We just picked up a couple of Sun Capsules beds they are wired 3 phase and I would like to convert them to single phase wiring.

Any help would be great we would like to get them up and running as soon as possible.

Re: Sun Capsule Wiring Conversion

Open the main panel. There is a junction box where you move a couple of jumpers around. There is picture pasted inside to show you what to do. If they are older then you will need to crack open the first three panels and reconfigure the outlets. Basically two hots and a ground to each panel. Very simple to do.

Re: Sun Capsule Wiring Conversion

Thanks Brian
I have the main panel open and the three hot legs (3-phase) go to a contactor with three lugs one for each leg.
It appears I can remove the leg from the center contactor lug and add it to one of the adjacent lugs. (single phase)
The center leg appears to only run one set of nine bulbs.
BTW there is no wiring diagram on the machine that I can find.

Any idea on breaker amperage I'm thinking 60amps with a number 6 wire.

Diagram should be on the cover you removed. What model Suncapsules?

Re: Sun Capsule Wiring Conversion

No,
checked cover no diagram
I down loaded one online

Everything looks do-able just trying to verify breaker size for single phase.

Panel on unit shows 31.5 amps three phase

Thinking 60 amp breaker single phase with #6 wire or mybe 70amp breaker

Re: Sun Capsule Wiring Conversion

How many lamps? Sounds like it will be ok on a 60amp 2 pole.

Re: Sun Capsule Wiring Conversion

You should be fine with #6 and a 60 amp 2 pole.
