Rep Power: 0 | Need Help Wiring a T-Max 3A Timer to 1989 Suntana Wolf System Tanning Booth I need help hooking up a t-max 3a timer to my 1989 suntana wolff system tanning booth stand up. Unless you guys can help me find the manual or schematics for this thing that would work as well. I have the power from the booth setup up and plugged in and the timer will come on when I turn the booth on. The only way I can get the booth on is by flipping the emergency cut off switch on and off. I know there is another set of wires that needs to be connected to my timer to control the bed itself so I don't have to switch the emergency cutoff switch, all the time, to turn in on and off. I took a bunch of pictures and will like them here. I really need help with this. Please someone help me! :) I can't find a manual or schematics anywhere! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Need Help Wiring a T-Max 3A Timer to 1989 Suntana Wolf System Tanning Booth It is not in that junction box. If the bed switches on and off with the emergency switch then simply take one wire off of the emergency switch and connect it to the contact on the timer. Take a wire from the other contact on the timer and connect it back to the emergency switch where you removed the one wire. This will put the timer in series with the emergency switch and allow you to operate the timer and the emergency switch will then be able to turn the bed off....in an emergency. Since that Boat Anchor® looks all hacked into but turns on and off with the emergency switch then that will be the easiest way to connect the timer. You will never find a schematic for it and who knows what was done to it over the years. Just hook it up the way I told you and it will run. |

Not to the cover screw, that is hackin'. Romex is hackin' too. Use MC cable in commercial. Also, install a disconnect in the room. Wire running directly to the unit without a means of disconnect is also a violation. At least put something on that sharp edge where the main power wire is rubbing on the sheet metal so the vibration over time doesn't cut into the wire. Better yet, get a professional in there to run proper wire and install the timer so you don't electrocute someone with that butcher job. That should fail inspection. And should I connect that ground to what? The metal roof? I told the electrician to do that but he.said I wouldnt need to but he doesnt know about tanning beds. :( thank you so much. You have been a great help. |

Bolting a ground lug to attach the ground to would be proper. A disconnect is a main switch in the room with a big red lever to switch off the unit power. This is required by code for service or emergency. I wouldn't expect him to know that by his use of romex and the termination point of the ground. Those are the only things I can see from the pic other than the bare conductors. You can show this to him. He is a hack. I hope he is offended. He should not be installing any wiring with the skills portrayed in those photos. |
