UVB lamps for my tanner.

Hey guys, I have a SunQuest 2000S tanner.

Golden Tan Wolff Model GT71-T12-100W BI-PIN

Bulb : GT171-T12-100W BI-PIN

I have psoriasis, so im looking for either bulbs that have a higher UVB bulb rating , or 100% UVB bulbs (no UVA) for my tanner.

I looked around but couldnt find anywhere online that has these..

All I currently have in there now is what came with the tanner.. (95% UVA 5% UVB )

any help would be much appreciated.

if you're not allowed to post links here, PM would be fine as well.

Re: UVB lamps for my tanner.

I need a site thats popular and has it in stock. Why are these things so difficult to find ?

Even the manufacturer doesnt reply to me... I guess if we're not buying a $2000 bed, they could give a rats *** about us.

Re: UVB lamps for my tanner.

UVB lamps are what they use in derm booths for psoriasis. They used to be used in tanning beds way back in mid eighties... but were discontinued because the burned everyone if more than a 2-3 minute exposure.

They are called FS lamps (FS71 or FS72 fits your bed - ask Robert which one). If he doesn't know try John Hayes at URI in Ohio.... 800-247-3251.

If you try them... keep exposure time way down near 2 minutes every few days. Ask a derm for your particular skin type & condition what time they recommend. They might tell you to go eat worms because they want your money for office sessions. But try several until you find an honest one.

There are also new narrow band 311-313nm lamps that may be better than the FS type. Again - ask a good dermatologist.

I appreciate the info, Solarmeter... but when I tried googling FS lamps and FS71 and I dont see any type of bulbs that'll fit my tanner. In fact I cant find any info on them at all.

Are these FS71 & FS72 purely UVB lamps ? (no uva)

being able to see what the look like I guess would be more relieving. especially before purchasing.

Re: UVB lamps for my tanner.

what the heck ? I was expecting like $20 for each bulb...max.

what about UVA bulbs that have high UVB ratings ? 1.4 I heard is the highest...im not sure what that means % wise though.. anything could be better then 5% UVB I suppose.

Re: UVB lamps for my tanner.

10% is the highest UVB for tanning lamps. The above FS lamps are ~60% UVB. Since they are only used for medical booths nowdays... they are marked up 1000% just like an aspirin in the hospital.

Try John at URI Monday. Maybe he can get them cheaper. Make sure they will "fit" your "tanner".

Can't the summer noon sun help your skin condition? It is about 7% UVB.
