Should have just got a Suncapsule. Look at how much space that takes up with a ballast box and all.

160 watt booths require you to stand there for 12 min. or more. Why do that when you can cut that time in half and have a bulletproof unit with superior cooling.

Once you have excellent lamps like the Cosmedico 9k90's in your unit how you market it might be up to you. We do very large rooms that are attractive. If you think 160 watt 9k90 lamps can't tan you then you might want to look into a different line of work! :) There has never been an issue with our standups in over 3 years. I have many NEW dr. mueller beds that needed tons of work in the beginning to get them right.
I hear that.

Thanks for all of the replies. Are there any other companies out there that offer the salon start up packages the way these people (Tropical Rayz) does.

Re: anyone heard of or have tropical rayz tanning beds

The start up package is just stickers and some bed cleaner. Probably the timers.

Yes - you can ask your bed sales rep to put together something like this, and most will. Many can also include some start-up lotion inventory. Or you can buy that yourself - it isn't more than a few hundred dollars when you add it all up.

In the end, the most important thing is to get the best value of equipment to fit your budget. The best "value" will be price, but also reliability, looks (to make it attractive to your clients), ease of maintenance, and many other factors.

Brian ours are 10 minute max. Most people can only start at 6 or 7 minutes in them. What is a ballpark figure for a 10 minute suncapsule? You can get these between 8K and 9K with some negotiating and includes the acrylics to. I actually got these because unlike most being the health fanatic that I am the magnetic ballasts were away from the tanner which means the electro magnetic rays drop significantly being that far away. We have very large rooms and space wasn't an issue. I did these last minute with some extra cash from our original budget which was a sweet surprise how well they turned out for us. I was very skeptical...if I even mention trying something new a few of my staff members have a fit and my husband (it's all he's tanned in for 3 years). I go by what they say and my customers I prefer the laydown beds myself.

Re: anyone heard of or have tropical rayz tanning beds

Now if you can get MattA to find you a used Suncapsule at a competitive price then you might be able to do a better comparison unless I'm way off on the prices of suncapsules.

Heartland is good. They are a "full service" bed/lotion/parts disty. Also, URI is real good as you'd be better off with their Sunsource beds than the tropical rayz (I think they still sell the sunsource at URI).
