Rep Power: 0 | Time for new bulbs I have a Tan America VIP 3200 bed that I need to get new bulbs for. It currently has Radiance R˛ 160 watt bulbs in the top and Radiance + 7000 100 watt bulbs in the bottom. These bulbs didn't last long at all!! The room this bed is in is VERY hot which I am sure didn't help. Anyway, I would like suggestions on whether to go with bronzing bulbs or another type bulb like this. This is a 15 minute bed but like I said, it gets HOT in there!!! My supplier suggested the 6.5% uvb w/refl. VHO-ZXR lamps. Just hate to buy a new set and them burn out fast because of the heat. |

The Voltarc Radiance R2 lamps are about 3% UVB & the Bench sounds like you are using a 5% non reflector in the bench? The VHO ZXR lamps are much higher UVB, about 6.5%, they will feel much hotter than the what you currently have, but will give more immediate color. If you want Bronze results try the LSI Signature Series Plus 160WR for the top & 100W R for the bench. For the VHO/ZXR you can try the LSI Beach Sun VHOR & HOR, which gives more immediate color. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Time for new bulbs Try Pure Bronze lamps! They give 30% more output compared to other tanning lamps. F-71 100 watt Bi-Pin 5.5 lamps are $9.95. FR-71 160 watt Bi-Pin 3.5 lamps are $14.95! Call Year Round Brown 800-741-2046 and ask for Andrea Sounds like you have a ventilation issue since the room is so hot. Try putting air vents/ wall returns on the bottom of the door to get some air flowing through the room! |

Rep Power: 29 | Re: Time for new bulbs 160watt ballasts (or whatever they claim is in that bed) is overkill at 15min. I'd run the bed at 12min, make more money and the heat won't be as much of a problem. Go with some LSI lamps. 6.5%UVB at 15min? Why does this seem wrong??? The lamps total output must be in the single digits. |

UVA browning rays? UVB pinking rays? MED reddening rays? Or all three? Normally - for a given wattage/ballast of lamps... as UVA goes up the other two go down. And as the other two go up the UVA goes down. Old era peaking at 350nm or new era peaking at 365nm also comes into play. New era has more UVA - about 30% more than old era. Yet their UVB and MED amounts stay about the same as old era lamps. | |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Time for new bulbs "30% more output" comes directly from the words of the manufacturer, Pure Bronze . :) The Pure Bronze literature states, "Our top class tubes contain PurePower technology. By using special electrodes and an innovative lamp design, they deliver up to 30% more UV output than conventional tubes." I wish I could copy and paste a picture to give a clearer visual, but there is a protective shield at the ends of the lamp that ensures minimum tube-end blackening. Basically, the difference is that the shield (metal ring on the ends of the lamps) is longer then a standard shield. Also, there is a heat-shield which is used as part of the modern design for greater durability and more output. If you have the Looking Fit magazine from June, there is a Pure Bronze ad in there on page 53 that you can check out! Unfortunately, I do not have the exact science behind the rays. ww.sli-lighting-usa.com is their website. I'm sure they would be happy to provide you with the exact info! |
