Best lamps for a 2003 Sunstorm

I just purchased a 2003 Dr. Mueller Sunstorm , it has 25-140 watt lamps in the canopy and 19-160 watt in the bench. I have 3 brand new boxes of Cosmetico 9k90's and 19 of those lamps will most likely be going in the bench (when I ordered the bed I was under the impression that both bench and canopy were 160). Is the CosmoLux VHR-TT 140 watt lamp the ones I should realmp the top with? As well I am putting new High Pressure face tanners in (1000 watts) I respect everyone's opinion on this site so what are the best high pressure lamps that I could buy for these as well. This is my first bed that has different wattages in the canopy and bench so I just wantd to find out what the best combo would be, any info is appreciated, Thank you

Seems odd to me that the 160's are in the bench and not the canopy. The stronger bulbs should really be in the canopy. Do you know how many hours are on the bulbs currently in the bed?

It uses 140's because of the length of them. I use Heraeus in mine and they are great. Talk with John at URI

Use a 59" 140w Sig Series+ type lamp in the canopy and a 160w VHO in the bench. The bed comes with 160w VHO in the bench do to heat and so on.

Re: Best lamps for a 2003 Sunstorm

I am unsure of hours right now but I think it is in the 1200 hrs region. I want to relamp anyway as I want the best value for my customers and I am using it as an upgrade. The last thing I want is for someone to use it and be disappointed in their results. When I bought the bed the seller told me it was close to relamp time but I didnt care because I had 3 boxes of 160 W 9k90 s sitting at my salon , now it looks like I can only utilize those in the bench. I was just seeing what 140 W lamps would be comparable to the cosmolux 9k90 160W. Ill use the rest of my 9k90 s to relamp my stand up anyway. By the way, the 140 W are in the canopy it says in the manual, regardless it will still beat my old VHR with 32 160 W lamps

The bed uses 59" lamps in the canopy so they are 140w. Same "strength" as a 71" 160w just a shorter version. Your 9K90's are reflector lamps. The bench uses non-reflector lamps. You can run reflector lamps but it will run hot. That bed tans great in the standard setup. I would save your 9K90's and buy the proper lamps.

Re: Best lamps for a 2003 Sunstorm

Wrecked is right that thing runs hot.

I'd do a cosmedico VHO setup in there with a regular 140watt reflector. Costs the same as lightsources and are better and last longer IMO. Radium facials are plenty good and Hereaus would likely by over 60 bucks per lamp which adds up.

You don't need to get funky those beds will tan but lightsources will burn up by 400-450 hours. Cosmos should beat that pretty soundly. But meter meter meter to make sure you still cranking

Ah I beg to differ in regards to price and life.......Cosmedico would be my second choice. LSI lamps are generally a little cheaper with better output and equal life to Cosmedico.

The LSI do make better color than Cosmedicos, but the life expectance on LSI depends on the enviorment,If you have a bed that generally runs cool and has appropriate cooling.LSI will be the best.If the bed is a hotbox, than always buy wolff/cosmedico.the will take the worst beating and keep putting out.

Re: Best lamps for a 2003 Sunstorm

A Sunstorm will eat up LSI by 400ish hours. Cosmos last a lot longer in that and any environment.

I disagree on the performance. You may or may not get more pop in the first 50 but after that LSI will drop below the curve. The initial pop can happen as I have gotten good LSI batches but they are not of the consistent quality of a Cosmo and never last as long.
