Question Rave lamps

Hi everyone,

I need to replace my bulbs. I have Heartland ovation 134 10 min beds. The current bulbs are the Rave select, and I'm not too happy with them. My customers don't seem to be getting good color from them. The only compatible bulb I can find out there is the durasun select. Is that a better bulb? I am in a regulated state also which makes it a little difficult. This is my first lamp change. I'm fairly new in the business, so I'm still learning! I would appreciate everyones expert opinion! Thanks everyone!!

Re: Rave lamps

Re: Rave lamps

Ya the choices ARE out there for computability. But if you are regulated, you have have to get new compliance stickers for the beds saying the lamps you chose are within the original manufacturers specs. Heartland would legally have to provide those at no cost.

Re: Rave lamps

Thanks! I'm finding out maybe a 10 min bed wasn't the best choice like I thought. I can convert this bed to a 15 or 20 min. but a lot of people like 10 mins for convenience. I'm kinda screwed I think. Of course when I call Heartland they say there are no compatible lamps so they can sell their own rave lamp!

Re: Rave lamps

No need for new stickers on the bed. The light source lamps that I use have a compatiblity
sheet in the box. The inspector will ask for it when they inspect. They usually take it with them for their records.

Re: Rave lamps

Just curious Unity but if I understood what you said correctly, you said that if a customer wants to relamp their Heartland bed with different lamps from what came with the bed that Heartland would have to provide new labels and no cost. Is that what you are saying? If so, what is your source for that?

Re: Rave lamps

My source is both my state legislature, the folks at ETS and Heartland. I wanted to re-lamp my beds with something else and Heartland wanted me to buy theirs of course. If I do something outside the list of compatible lamps a new sticker is needed for compliance. But since we are not really regulated Heartland said I could just sign a waiver - that waiver release really means I could put anything I want in the beds and Heartland is released from any liability. If you even notice, they ALWAYS ask what bed these lamps are going into, they dont make habit of buyers just buying what they say they want.

But like mentioned above, I bet you could get something equivalent and if needed just show the chart/box/etc that says they are a direct replacement.

Of course Heartland WANTS to sell you want they want.

Try calling Brianna Houlle at 4 seasons. 800-325-2769 ext: 2122 Tell her Shawn from Pacific Tan sent you. I think she will level with you and get you the info or lamps you need.

Re: Rave lamps

I understand the part about needing to buy compliant lamps, what I am having trouble with is if I understand everything you are saying. What I read, and maybe I got it wrong, is that you are saying if you want to change the lamps that go into the bed to something different than what is on the label of the bed that Heartland legally has to give you a new sticker that makes the new lamps legal. This may well be a state by state deal but I am just curious if this is what you are saying and if it is true. No disrespect meant, it just seems curious.

If you are buying lamps that are compliant within + or - 10% you get a letter with the lamps that says they are legal. That is all that I ever knew you needed, in Kansas anyway that is all you ever needed. Putting new stickers on was always an option but you had to go through quite a process to recertify your beds for new stickers.
