Question Need help to see if I'm getting ripped off in sale

I recently made a verbal agreement to buy a salon (no bldg, just the beds & inventory, etc) However, after talking to a few people who have had tanning salons in the past, I am being told that they're asking way too much. If anyone knows much about used tanning bed prices, or where I could find them on the internet, I would greatly appreciate it. There are 4 Sunvision beds w/ 24-26 lamps...years are 2002, 2003, 1997, 1998. Thanks for the help!

If you are paying more than $500/bed, you are getting ripped off. Personally, I wouldn't consider those for anything other than home use and even then I'd want someone to pay me to take it off their hands.

That's about what my hair dresser was saying. The seller is asking 15,000 for those, a small inventory of lotions, computer, desk, washer and dryer. But I started having some doubts about it and I am glad I checked more into it. Thanks for the heads up!

Those beds can and will cause Zebra stripes. They are not very good beds. A SunStar is as low as I would go for a salon - basically anything with at least 30 to 32 lamps.

You are considering buying a business, not 4 broke *** beds. What are the business numbers? Sales and expenses? Available power and AC? Post some pics. Competition?

Have you written a business plan?

I think they are just buying the assets of the business and not the business itself!

Re: Need help to see if I'm getting ripped off in sale

Yes, I would be buying the clientel as well. However, they have only been open a year, and had only 185 customers TOTAL for last year. She wasn't sure of an average per month and as far as income, there wasn't much. They only profitted about 100 a week. There are a few other tanning salons in town, but being as small as it is (the town) there's not much room to grow. And people from nearby cities have no need to come here b/c they have plenty of what they need where they are...not too mention the drive is a little out of the way.

So, isn't that your answer??? You want to profit $100 per week and open a business with no room to grow?? I wouldn't!!!!!!!!!!! IMO!!!
