Rep Power: 29 | Hard and soft acrylic...what's the difference??? There is CLEARLY 2 different types of tanning bed acrylic out there. Some are so flexible that you can bounce on it all day long and it won't break. Some are so hard that they will smash to pieces. What's up with that? |

Rep Power: 29 | Re: Hard and soft acrylic...what's the difference??? not old. What I'm noticing is that the acrylic that has the beds in it seems to be more sturdy YET more brittle. Very easy to smash up when tossing in the trash...er...recycle bin. The flat or no bend acrylic EVEN FULL OF CRACKS is a ***** to break up. Just very flexible. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Hard and soft acrylic...what's the difference??? Poor cooling and high UVB kill 'em. Thickness has alot to do with flexability too. Placing a bend in the acrilic will make it more rigid. When you try to break it, it will have less give due to the bend as compared to the one without bends. The one without bends absorbs and transfers the shock more readily too. Still, ones that have the $h!t cooked out of them are more brittle. The heat and UVB will remove the elasimers from the plastic over time. |
