Baby Oil

I have a client who decided she was going to use baby oil during her session.. After she tanned, it took me around 3 hours to clean up the mess.. I told her if she ever uses it again, her package WILL be terminated. Is it safe to use a solution of 50% clear vinegar and 50% water if this ever happens again?

Re: Baby Oil

You have GOT to be kidding me. God I hate stupid people.

I use products designed for the acrylic. Forget the line, but there is a cleanser and polish, etc.

But why three hours? It is a mess indeed, but clean-up is not that hard! :)

The worst part is how it degrades the acrylic :(

And WHY do people use it! All of us here know hoe BAD it is for your skin, its does not even help you tan! It dries up your skin!

Been there, done that-ridiculous! Some people have little or no regard for others property! Usually if you kindly explain to the client the damage it can do to your acrylic, you can make them feel reeeeallly bad for doing this...we post signs in all of our rooms. Good luck.

Vinigar will not hurt the acrylic.

Instead, use 409 or dish detergent. It will gut the grerase much faster.

Exactly. Ask what they are using is crazy. I could care less what they are using. JUST DON'T BREAK MY STUFF OR YOU WILL BE TREATED LIKE A 4 YEAR OLD.

People don't like being treated like they are 4.

Re: Baby Oil

we added it to the release, they can't use any products with mineral oil, no outdoor products we name several, we tell them they will be responsible for replacement for the acrylic and the credit card info we have on them will be used to pay for it.
we also added a ___ next to this on the release for them to initial.

Re: Baby Oil

that's not a bad idea.

Remember, these people have NO CLUE what a "mineral oil" or any of that crap means.

Some even think "mineral oil" is something GOOD for the skin.

Re: Baby Oil

methanol alcohol can be used as long as the acrylic is cold. At this point you either get the baby oil off or it will get into the pours of the material swell up making the sheild rough to the touch. Once this happens there is nothinng you can do to get mineal oil out of the plastic.

So let cool down to cold or room temp which may take a couple hours. And Probably the mixture of vinegar and water may be ok have never tried it not sure. I Know the methanol alcohol works and as long as shield is cold it won't hurt it the risk of any alcohol or windex is it evaporates so fast it causing the surface of the plastic to shrink from being colder than the rest of the sheild leaving little strees cracks in the material.

Re: Baby Oil

This happened to me yesterday as well. Some moron came in...hes like "I USE to tan at Hollywood Tans and I dont get any color" Ok so im thinking thats good for me im gonna make business off him! Hollywood Tans just have stand ups....so I showed him around and he decided to buy a package in the regular beds...I ask him if he wants lotion and when Im giving out my speech about our great lines of product, he cuts me off! GOD I HATE THAT. so he said he didnt need it...after he finished tanning he came out WET! I was thinkin to myself...theres no way in **** he got that hot from my regular beds. My regular beds are 160 watts top n bottom with 3 face tanners and they go for a max of 12 mins. I didnt think that would make him sweat like he swam in pool. After he leaves I go to clean the bed...BABY OIL EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is my first experience with someone doing that...I just bought this exisitng salon in October! I had no idea what to do. I knew its bad for the beds. I always ask if i can see what they are using. I guess since the moron went to Hollywood tans he used baby oil and since its a stand up it doesnt harm their equipment. Well it took me 10 times to clean it! Also, twice this morning! It was horrible...if he ever does it again I'll make his *** clean it! LOL!

When you use baby oil...once it hits the acrylic it clouds it up so UV doesnt shine through it...so sucks for him, his back probably didn't get any color cuz it was blocked from all that nasty baby oil! He tried cleaning the bed too...cuz I keep the bottle of cleanser in each rooms and when I went to clean the bed it slipped outta my hand thats how much he used baby oil! I can't wait for him to come in for his next session...so I can give him a piece of my mind! So yea, I just wanted to share my interesting story = )
