350 ergo lamps?

What is a good replacement for the stock 120w?

Also, what is the real wattage of the ergo 350 ballasts('07)?

Re: 350 ergo lamps?

The use genesis reflector 120 watt lamps, the ballasts are 120 watts, and the lamps are real 120 watts. Genesis Lamps have High Output lamps with 5% UVB and lots of long wave length UVB. The beds tan fast and product a slightly orange color, sometimes called bronzing lamps. It is a good level three bed, PatParadise

Good level 3 bed?! I would have it at level 2, unless you have 7 different kinds of beds like some salons do.

Re: 350 ergo lamps?

It is our level 2.

I know the ballasts say 120w but I've heard they're really not. Problem is, I've been told they're actually 100w from one source and 140w from another.

And also have been told that I should replace with both 100w or 160w lamps if I don't want to stick with the Genesis.

?confused?

Re: 350 ergo lamps?

The 350's are powered with 100 watt ballasts, the 400's are powered with 140 watt ballasts.

Re: 350 ergo lamps?

So the 400 would truly be a "stronger" bed than a 350?

More lamps + Higher Wattage = Stronger

If you think about it - it wouldn't make sense for them to make both if they were the same!

Re: 350 ergo lamps?

Funny how on another forum a self proclaimed guru said they are virtually the same and the only differences are the paint.

Re: 350 ergo lamps?

Perhaps they meant between similar models of Soltron vs Ergo

Perhaps they meant "significant" differences

There ARE differences - the 400 IS stronger.

However -- "significantly" stronger -- kinda, sorta, maybe.

2 lamps more or less one way or the other is not major

100 vs 140W is more significant.

But in the whole scheme of differences between units -- not a HUGE difference here! You would never put a 350 and a 400 in a salon and call them different "levels" -- they wouldn't be different ENOUGH to justify enough of a price difference to call them two different levels. Plus - they basically look similar to the consumer.

Rather, the significance is more what you put above them - and below them - in a salon line-up.

So the "self proclaimed guru on another forum" isn't really completely inaccurate -- they just weren't going into the detail like above.
