Oshman, it would probably cost too much money to sue everyone that bad-mouthed their equipment, so you're probably safe. As for tanning, it's all in the lamps anyway. If you are getting a good deal (and you would have to post the sale prices to determine that), then they might be worth buying. Hope this helps. Good luck. -Belvy

Rep Power: 103 | Re: Bed Questions.... Thank you Belvy! I have always said that tanning beds are just fancy lighting fixtures. The only things that really matter are quality of the frame, strength and clarity of the acrylic, the ballasts and the lamps. All the other crap is just something that you have to spend more to maintain. I know that is an oversimplification. You have to have good cooling fans, timer controls, etc. but some of these beds are getting a little bit ridiculous. How much should a tanning bed cost? At some point the wild paint and flashing lights and the bells and whistles just add more to the cost than the market can bear. (OK, I'll sit down and shut up now. Just had to get that off my chest. I feel better.)

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Bed Questions.... One major issue you will have with the Sunstars or may have happend is the timer brain going out, and right now ETS doesn't have any and are back ordered for sometime. The use to be about 300.00 and from my understanding from some other salon owners is they are about 1100.00 now. So whatever equipment you purchase make sure you can get parts for them that don't cost more than what the bed is worth. These are good units for a regular bed or start up. There is no speed about them, they are just a standard 100 watt lamp with 100 watt choke ballast. Good luck in your decision. |

Rep Power: 19 | Re: Bed Questions.... That is correct. As of today replacement timer boards for the Sunstar ZX32 is $1100 from ETS. Five months ago they were at $450. Talk about supply and demand! I have two of these beds and other than the control boards flaking out they have run pretty well. I have had three boards go out in a little over a year only on the ZX32's. Does anyone know of alternate parts suppliers for these other than ETS? |
